About Me
Born in South Africa on the 11th of February 1980 and from a place called laudium near white blocks where the kids shoot dice on the corner infront of the store and where every second house is an illegal liquor store, was a child who who will remain nameless, who may or may not have become a crackhead like his cousin but unlike so many of the ol skool gangsters of the neighbourhood, this childs father decided to migrate his family to Australia, in the midst of Apartheid and a country overrun by racial violence and crime.1984 was the year this child landed on Australian shores, in Adelaide, for the first 13 years everything was normal, or so it seemed, by 1993 his parents finalised there bitter divorce. His father left the country and left him to deal with the harsh reality of becoming the man of the house, with his mother continuously out of the house, he took it upon himself to try and raise his 6 year old brother, unfortunately he didn't know how to be a man himself let alone raise one.1994 saw the child enter the streets, in a predominantely lower class white area , he was picked on for being different, spat on for being a different colour, a few exceptions led him to make some friends who handed him a tape, this tape contained songs from the likes of Scarface, Spice 1, and Tupac. As days went on this child became a different person then his father had known, lost in his own anger and agression at his broken family and the environment he was forced to live in, he began to hang out on the streets more, selling drugs and running from police. With nobody at home to correct him, he was free to do what ever he wanted, he was now uncontrollable, smoking weed let him release his feelings to the few who were close to him, one day on the porch, a few friends of his started freestyling, before he knew it they were all doing it, he joined the cipher, and quickly learnt he was no freestyler, he went inside the house and wrote something down on a piece of paper and in 5 min was back outside and kickin it to his friends. They all agreed that it sounded good, so thus began this hash's career in rap.By 1995 he moved back to the eastside, predominantely more ethnic, he felt more comfortable that way, nobody called him names anymore, or picked fights, but he was stuck in the streetlife and quickly fell in with a gang, now when he rapped he was representing something bigger than himself, a collective, his mother, who never cared to stay around the house long enough to see what her son's were up to spent most of her time with her boyfriend, leaving Hash to look after his younger brother Leshan, they never had much money and there mother was allways complaining, Hash started robbing and stealing, feeling guilty, he would leave money on the kitchen counter for his mother, she never asked where it came from, but would spend it. By 1998 gang life took it's toll on her, and with hash facing jail time, she wanted him out the house, the case was thrown out of court, and Hash moved to Sydney for 2 years, things didn't change, he was attracted to a street dream, and liked fast cash, and of course fell in with a dangerous crowd. Selling drugs and anthing else he could do to hussle, meant surveillance on him and the people he was working for. All through this, he kept working on his lyrics, meeting a guy from the bay area named D-trump gave hash new inspiration to write more diverse lyrics, trying hard to blend hard street raps with a hipocritical empathy for those who he had sold drugs to or had hurt in the past, it seemed as if he was two different people, and the contradiction between doing right and doing wrong was tearing him apart inside.Tupac once said he was hopeless, and hash knew exactly what he meant when he said that, he felt like this was all he was going to do with his life, until he ended up in jail, or worse. After a brief visit to South Africa in 2001, he returned to Australia, and to Sydney, where he met his future baby mamma, and had a son, he quit rapping. He moved back to Adelaide to raise his son, he quit sellin drugs but kept husslin jus to make that little bit of extra, after a re-conciliation with his mother he tried the best he could to be a good parent and caring son, all the time he felt the urge to write his feelings down and record them, things didn't work between him and his baby mom's, and she skipped out leaving him to raise his son, alone. His younger brother had grown up now and had become a rapper himself, he came to live with hash, and together they tried to provide a good home for his son. A few years later he met a guy named Paul from Baltimore, together with a young girl named simone, they formed a group. The group broke up after a year when differences in opinions caused a rift between members, but Hash was determined to make rap a career now and was ready to move forward solo. Simone spoke to Hash and said she wanted to continue working with him, so they formed a group and a crew called Tha Streeteam, which consists of Hash, Simone and the guys Hash grew up with on the Eastside of Adelaide.Today, Tha Streeteam are well and truly focused on bringing there brand of street music to the masses, with simones soulful vocals and the enlisted help of Leshan or rather Yung Lesh, they look destined to leave a mark on the Australian Urban scene, with a song for everybody and for every mood, they deal with emmotion as well as makin those tracks to get your head knockin, be on the look out for Tha Streeteam, on your radios, and on the streets, WE TAKIN OVA!!!!Holla!!!!!!
