As If It Were is a hardcore/metal band hailing from Southwestern Ontario.
In a scene that is already over crowded they needed a way to try and seperate themselves from everything and everyone else. Melodic riffs, mixed with balls out breakdowns are something they have become known for.
They also have certain advantages over other local bands - as they are younger yet equally as capable as their more established counterparts.
Things started out in late 2004, as Richard, Kurt, Greg and Shawn and Karsten decided they needed to start up a band. As If It Were was just a side burner project for a while that had never really found its wings to get off the ground. Waiting and waiting for the right chance to take the local scene by storm, they saw a few line up changes at bass player and vocals.
After the addition of a new vocalist and bassist Matt Caruso- AIIW is still an ever-changing and evolving band. Currently, a 5-piece that has dug its heels into the local scene and refused to relent, As If It Were planted themselves right in the middle of the local scene in late 2006 and there is no sign of stopping them.
They just recently finished recording a 4 song EP that is out now, and plan on returning to the studio soon to record 3 more songs. Be sure to check for them in a city near you soon.
