Websters Dictionary describes PROPAGANDA as: 1. The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause. 2. Material disseminated by the advocates or opponents of a doctrine or cause: wartime propaganda.
ALL media is a construction of reality. Even the evening news, someone is paid to cut and edit what you see, someone is paid to choose the angle that you are forced to believe in. It goes the same for the music industry, and only you the audience can decide what is real and what isnt. Pay attention to what you read, listen to and view, because it is the audience that negotiates meaning.
With the joint collaboration of Dave Maraj and Rich Carrigan, Former President and Vice-President of Backrow Records from September 2004-April 2006, comes the birth of Propaganda Entertainment. Our Mandate is to promote, assist and sign Independent Bands and Artists in the Durham and surrounding regions, with the main focus on getting them exposure around southern ontario as well as releasing independent records for our artists in order to get them signed to Major Labels. Propaganda Entertainment are not only a record label, but also have a Management arm, a Promotions Arm, as well as Film and publishing arms.
Propaganda Entertainment organize various shows to get artists exposure, releases compilation CD's as well as independent Full Length and EP artist albums, sells merchandise for label expansion, and utilizes its large promotional team by sending out street teams and press releases to its long list of Industry Contacts. We are still a very young label but have accomplished so much in very little time, we are on the verge of exploding. Major Labels pay very close attention to us for one reason, we keep our ear to the streets. We are always looking for something new and fresh to promote. We will be the end of the Industry Dinosaurs that have over stayed their welcome. So look out for us, we're coming.
