His repertoire includes bossa nova standards and many sambas and songs from other styles such as MPB or choro. Aaron works both in the concert and the club date settings in New York and travels with others that use his talents in the flamenco, Brazilian, Latin and jazz styles.
As a flamenco guitarist with Dionisia Garcia Aaron worked in her latest flamenco show Llorca’s Mirror. The show ran for 27 months in residency at Taperia Madrid on the upper east side of Manhattan. He has worked for Ballet Hispanico as a flamenco accompanist since 2001. In 1987 while in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico he studied with Wolfgang ‘Lobo’ of Willie and Lobo fame. Since moving to NY in 1997 he has played alongside Bernardo Martin studied with Dennis Koster and Arturo Martinez, and played for singers and dancers in the NY, NJ and CT flamenco scene.
Eliot Goldenthal and Julie Taymor tapped Aaron to play on the score of Frida. Aaron was lead guitarist and vocalist with Dorothy Potter www.DorothyPotter.com in her band Azuleja performing classic Cuban son and Brazilian favorites in Spanish and Portuguese. They went on to compose many songs together for Songs Of Love for terminally chronically ill children. Then as the GilmartinPotter Band toured Europe for 3 years. Aaron toured extensively in the U.S. and in Europe with hit songwriter Alex Forbes http://www.creativesongwriter.com/ and co-wrote one of the songs on her latest release Leap. He was commissioned by Lisa Peterson to compose the two and a half hour score for Sueño a play adapted by Jose Rivera for the Manhattan Class Company and based on La Vida Es Sueno by Calderon De La Barca. As comfortable on stage as he is in the creative process, he also performed the pieces on stage on solo flamenco guitar. See http://www.mcctheater.org/AboutUs%20Folder/History.htm Aaron scores and composes for film and video and is a published songwriter. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree in classical guitar performance from California State University at Hayward, where he won awards for his jazz performances and was granted two years study abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There he studied bossa nova, samba and vocal styling with Paulinho Nogeira. Aaron's solo guitar repertoire encompasses music from the guitar traditions of classical, flamenco, Brazilian, and jazz. Some of the most fulfilling work for Aaron comes from composing and recording for Songs of Love www.SongofLove.com - an organization that creates personalized songs for severely ill children.
