The radically brief band story: Simon Lec's full name is
Simon David de Tusch Lec. He began working as Simon Lec in 1998, grinding his lo-fi psychedelic sound in bedroom studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. Incorporating a rotating line-up, Simon Lec is anchored by Simon's aforistic lyrics and evocative melodies.
Simon Lec was found in a dark blue baby pram on the doorstep of Mr. and Mrs. Lec, in Elsinore (the city of Shakespeare's Hamlet) on August 4, 1976. He was wrapped in pink paper towels, and tagged on the wrist with the mysterious note: "Yes?" Mr. and Mrs. Lec were not gypsies but had nothing but gold teeth. So did their three other children: Kubek, Julik-Krulik, and Amelik. Mrs. Lec cooked Russian soup for the Swedish navy. Mr. Lec was the famous honorary D. Sc. of Hilsch Vortex. His early work was concerned with the magnetic properties of crystals. In 1930 he began studying the magnetic properties of atomic nuclei, developing Stern's molecular beam method to great precision, as a tool for measuring these properties. His apparatus was based on the production of ordinary electromagnetic oscillations of the same frequency as that of the Larmor precession of atomic systems in a magnetic field. Mrs. and Mr. Lec had very little money, but very big hearts. They decided to keep the baby. They named him Funky Simonky, after their hero and friend Rabbi Schmulik, the great Armenian who won the syndication standards battle in the 17th century. Despite his sparrowly and despondent looks, Simon was a good kid. Mr. and Mrs. Lec + Simon's new siblings did the best they could. They fed him soup (mostly Polish barszt (beet soup (without pulp!))), they read him parts of the Mishna, they combed his long blond hair, they sang songs and danced for him. The future was looking mighty good!
