the feelings that i kept made me feel so bad.

About Me

a brief thing about my musical existence thus far... i picked up a guitar when i was 9 but got frustrated that my fingers were too small to get around the chords. but i walked around for years singing melodies to myself and then one day the guitar seemed natural. i met my friend joal pascoe and together we started a group, and we wrote a lot of songs together. through this group my partnership with lindsay barkley became invaluable. with these two i explored a lot of teenager hood in a very collaborative fashion and we forced a lot of feelings out through music. we made things for each other to listen to and it became a very safe environment to develop music too. when we turned 18 we went in different directions. though lindsay and i continued to play together for a bit i eventually started pursuing my own work which had remained on the strictly experimental front for a long time. i took a course in 2006 and 2007 where i began trying to make sense of musical ideas. even though the course may not have helped, i did indeed meet michael ropkins who helped me force out a lot more musical feelings that often didn't contain feelings at all, just things that we thought sounded good and that had a huge sense of mystery about them, even to myself. i then spent the rest of 2007 thinking about what i should do, and then i thought that there was no reason to not continue to develop this kind of automatic prose that i had become so accustomed to, to put lyrics to simplistic chords or ideas or repetitive structures that continued for seemingly forever. when you go into a room you channel whatever comes out... that's what this is all about. these days i am investigating. i'm forming a band of patterns and colours to help get these feelings that make me feel so bad out. the patterns and colours are essentially whoever is around, or maybe it's just me with my own imaginary canvas. mr michael ropkins will hopefully be involved a bit more in the future, but he's currently away. kelly chaffer is proving to be an invaluable collaborator and hopefully she will be involved too. there are lots of new things coming.. the fires in the darkness of things that haven't quite manifested themselves yet. lots of things to be immersed in. the melodies and words and ideas are becoming fully formed.
