I've been playing music as Blake Zweig (singer/song writer style) for about 6 years. Before that I was in the band Sleeping for Sunrise from Champaign/Urbana - Bloomington/Normal. After Sleeping for Sunrise broke up I started playing shows on my own.One of my first shows was in Normal, IL opening for Damien Jurado, and for the next two years I played shows mainly around the Chicagoland area with bands like Joan of Arc, Owen, and Mark Kozelek (once, great show). In 2001 I released my first solo album titled, "Other People Make Me Do This." The next one should be available in Spring 2006.In the fall of 2001 I went to graduate school in Flagstaff, Arizona and played on the west coast whenever I had the chance (Phoenix, San Diego, L.A., San Francisco, Portland). I also played several east coast dates with Owen in New York. After graduate school I moved to D.C. for a year and played the Galaxy Hut (great small little venue). The following year I moved to Upstate New York (near Montreal) and this year I finally moved back to Chicago.I was away from Chicago for 4 years, and over the last couple of years I've been slowly building a new record. It’s still in the works, but now that I'm back in Chicago I expect the pace to pick up. More instruments have been added to this record, while the first was simply vocals, guitar, and a little piano/guitar played by Mike Kinsella.I hope you enjoy the songs on this site and come see me play sometime.
