During the late 70s and early 80s his father played the trumpet for various orquestas and Los Nietos Del Rey. In 1996 he began playing out for around the way parties and started giving his mix-tapes to stores in Brooklyn. In 1998 he won second place in BMGs Xzibit mix-tape contest. He was then invited to join Funkmaster Flex's Big Dawg Franchise Record Pool. His mix-tapes have received positive reviews on MTV Mixtape Mondays, www.hiphopgame.com, and the Off the Top Newsletter. His mix-tapes have also been distributed by www.allmixtapes.com, www.bestmixtapes.com, www.sandboxautomatic.com and www.urbanstreetz.com.As a member of Boogie Dont Sleep Entertainment and www.boogiedontsleep.com, he has rocked crowds from Manhattan to San Francisco. He has manned the decks at many of New York Citys clubs and bars including Limelight, Speed, TNY, Nells, Don Hills, Remote Lounge, the Village Underground, Rivertown Lounge, Nectar, the Hole, Demeraras, Denizen, Infra Red Lounge and La Linea. Sleepy Eye has also been hired to spin and provide the music equipment for private parties at Jimmy's Bronx Cafe, the Hilton Hotel, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Crane Club, Cafe Cielo, and El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice. You can catch Sleepy Eye on Wednesday nights at TNY in Manhattan.From May 2001 until May 2004, DJ Sleepy Eye hit the New York radio airwaves. On 91.9 FM's Showcase Radio, people from New Jersey and Connecticut were also able to listen to his mixes. Sleepy Eye interviewed many of the Tri-State areas best unsigned MCs and various artists such as Saigon and Mr. Complex.Currently, he is a contributing writer for Rap Fanatic Magazine and www.rapfanatic.com. Sleepy Eye has interviewed and written articles on Wendy Williams, Raekwon, DJ Kay Slay, DJ Khaled, Guru and Uncle Luke. He is the writer for the Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop column for the magazine.
