Don't quit now

About Me

I cook at a restaurant as a line cook. Maybe one day I'll be a chef at my own spot. I just turned 29, am coming up on a year with my wife Shari, and I wear wifebeaters 97 percent of the time. I know some stuff about stuff, so you may be fooled into believing that I am smart. Don't believe the hype. I'm just smarter than you, that's all.

My Interests

I value honesty, and the ability to voice one's opinion. I can be meek at times, and I always find a way to gravitate to the loudest people somehow! I love to cook, and hopefully I'll one day be able to focus my love for food into my own restaurant. I like money. I like movies, and I love trivia. I smoke cigarettes and drink bourbon straight... but I don't think that counts as an interest.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet Shawn Carter, the man/myth/legend also known as Jay Z. He's so focused, man... I need to learn how to step up my game to his level. I would like to meet Jacques Pepin and Anthony Bourdain, as these guys know a thing or two about a thing or two. I'd like to shake Sting's hand. I'd like to cook for Redman and Method Man and get together a dope ass hiphop cooking show. I may even want to meet YOU.View All Friends | View Blog | View Pics | Add Comment

Music:

I like a lot of music. I can dig some latin jazz and some instrumental type funk, but recently I've been searching for some good pop rock. I'm a big fan of the early corny favorites from hall and oates to the cure. I find myself stuck in r&b and hiphop from the 90's with a lot of love songs mixed in there, but I'm pinoy... what can I say? I like talking about music, and finding out the real story behind songs. I want to know the producer, the label who pushed out the album, all that good shit. I like feeling like I can be a part of music rather than knowing a lot about it; anyone can learn the songs, but there's so much more to the music than the songs alone. I love John Legend. I love Kanye. I worship Jay and Biggie. Pac's a'ight though. I pretty much like anything I can sing to, especially if I sound okay singing it. Feel me?

Movies:

I like them all. I like watching the actors act out scripts that writers have written. I like the ideas for stories on film that become great artistic pieces. So much is bad out there, but there's a little bit of genius in movies that I try to find. I wanted to be an actor once. Not in movies, but I did enjoy acting. Oh, Pacino, DeNiro, John Cusack, Denzel Washington, David Caruso, Kiefer Sutherland, stanley Tucci, Robin Williams, George Clooney... etc etc.

Television:

Well, I can safely say I am into CSI, especially Miami. Fuck all that NY bullshit. Law and order, but not as much these days. The Wire, but I'm not current. I'm current on The Shield. I'm up to date on Big Love and Top Chef. I like Lost and Heroes, but I work nights so I miss all the good shit. The old Iron Chef is awesome.

Books:

I find myself digging through all of my old journals and lots of cookbooks recently. I have never had much stamina to read novels all the way to the end, but I do read lots of magazines. I'm reading The Godfather right now. I have literally only read 5 books in the last decade... Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress, Rule of Four, and Memoirs of a Geisha. I don't have the attention span to read books, but I'm trying.

Heroes:

My grandfather, god rest his soul. He represents so much of my personality that I only wish that people could have met him and known him before he passed away. My mom, who is the heart and soul of my family. My dad, who is the hardest working and genuine person I know. My wife, who is the most beautiful woman in the world.
