I am here for Friends

About Me

Huh, guess I got back from Scotland in a nick of time. The Isle of Skye is beautiful! And me...well... I'm a sass. Rather straight forward actually. I like people with a little fang, but certainly am not into cruel people. Fiesty is a trait that I like in friends and significant others. Can also put my leg behind my head, but invariably will throw my back out. Moving into a house with my man. We're nesting, which seems to require a hazmat suite (he insisted), masks with HEPA filters, and a shop vac. He already knows that I don't vaccuum, I shop vac. (My old Hoover in the shed has dust on it that I need to dust off with my shop vac.)I've never been much of a nester, give me a crow bar and I'll make the improvements honey, no worries. My man can nest. He's a pro at it. He moves art around. I'll walk into a room and all of a sudden there's a different picture up on the wall. I really like that. I'll open my eyes after an early morning meditation and see Buddha looking back at me and wonder what happened to Hanuman and the Mermaid picture from the day before.

My Interests

A Sense of Humor, DNA binding proteins, Anusara yoga, love, beaches, travel, back packing, reading, music, gratitude, dancing, sassy people, the outside, the inside, Fluevogs, that whole life thing and several kinds of chocolate

I'd like to meet:

Sassy People. There is a certain politician that I'd really like to bare bottom spank. For some odd reason I really like extremism in my peeps. So if you have a well balanced life and work 9-5 I wouldn't know what to do with you. No offense, I'd like you just fine, but I'd find you a curious phenomena like a beautiful beetle that I'd never seen before.

Music:

How can anyone clean their abode without music, let alone live? Some of my favorites... Arcade Fire, White Stripes, Cloud Cult, Bloc Party, Muse, Killers, The Kills, The Yeah Yeah Yeah's, She Wants Revenge, Outkast (Speakerbox and the Love Below), Pulp, Giberto Gil, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Madeliene Peyroux, Jane's Addiciton, Cyrstal Method, Beastie Boys (they make me laugh), Groove Armada, Bahia, Marissa Monte, P-funk, The Clash, Trash Can Sinatras, The Stone Roses, I'll kirtan anyday with Krishna Das, and dig anything with a tempo like you are riding a horse, like that Wallflower's song.

Movies:

Aliens, City of the Lost Children, Garden State, Hamlet (2000), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Rushmore, Fargo, Twelve Monkeys, Magnolia, Harold and Maude, La Femme Nikita, The Professional, The Usual Suspects, Snatch, Zoolander, The Fifth Element, The Blues Brothers, Run Lola Run, Xanadu, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Better Off Dead, Raising Arizona, Clerks, Like Water for Chocolate, The Big Lebowski, The English Patient, Kunden, Singin' in the Rain, SWAT, Crash, Stripes (...as in..."Ever been convicted of a felony?...Convicted? No, never convicted."), and sure...anything with Vin Diesel in it...sin by Vin (as in "Shut your mouth, watch your back, and keep working till your ass falls off.")!

Television:

Don't do it.

Books:

Love in the Time of Cholera, Anna Karenina, A Confederacy of Dunces, Confederates in the Attic, Stupid White Men, The War of Art, Anne of Green Gables, almost anything by Hafiz, The Ramayana, Bonfire of the Vanities, Angela's Ashes, Anil's Ghost, Bird by Bird, Me Talk Pretty One Day, speeches by MLK Jr., letters by Gandhi

Heroes:

Anyone who can live in it and keep a genuine smile on their face.

Existential crisis following travel

I'm just gonna blurt it out and say that I always wonder what the hell I'm doing with my life after traveling somewhere. It really puts a perspective on things and ususally ends with a need to overhau...

running bug

Ok, I've been bitten again. I used to suffer from it when I was 18 to about 21, this running bug. I figured it was residual teenage angst. I had to pound it out. But recently it came back. Ok, not so ...

My big confession...

I have a hard time with "loving" the Beatles. I'm not even "in like" with them. Yup, it's something I struggle with. I mean, I love many groups that have been inspired by them. But I never remember wh...
