Just Above Jealous is the product of former Fiasco punk drummer who also plays acoustic folk guitar, a jazz pianist who sings in the choir, a violin player turned funk driven bassist, and a funk, grunge, classic rock, psychedelic (you get the picture) guitarist. Their style hits just about every end of the music library. They all met at different points in early 2007. Sam and Ian lived in the same dorm, and Sam met Zach through MIOX records, which they both are signed as solo artists on the label. The guys picked up Dylan somewhere and the rest goes from there. Formed in late September 2007 in Oxford, Ohio, Just Above Jealous quickly played several shows close to home, including battle of the bands, several frat parties, and the occasional impromptu show in their practice space. Little did they know 6 months later they would be traveling around Ohio and playing Oxford’s biggest parties. Playing originals that range from their funk driven “Take A Break” to their crowd favorite “Six”, JAJ has something to offer everyone.

Influences: Check out these radio outlets (and a few other things) and be certain ask for some JAJ!

Sounds Like: "These tracks are a set of indie rock tracks with a hard edge and smart song writing. The guitar work is a huge part of putting this band in a league all its own. The songs are ahead of their time and at the same time ride that indie rock radio sound perfectly. These songs have great energy and the drumming, bass work guitar sections, and vocals together put the tracks in a place that feels like the next wave of new strong based indie rock with a backbone and vocals that belt with precision. The Sound quality over all is smooth and layered well. The mix and production is done very well. There are a few tracks where the vocals come above the music a bit too much but hardly noticeable to anyone who isn't there to pick apart every little thing. Vocally the singers deep vocal style make this band a bit different than the usual indie rock sound. And of course the fact that this guy can sing helps a lot too. These guys take a sound that is a big part of todays society and mend it to their favor. Theres not many negatives when it comes to Just Above Jealous. These guys have the abliity to track a powerful performance on record and thats a very important ability to obtain when it comes to the music business."

"A lot of bands attempt white boy funk with unsatisfying results, but that's not the case with this young crew's amped-up music."

-Don Thrasher, Dayton Daily News

"You guys we're way too f***in' loud. Tight as hell, but way too loud"
