Team Ragnarok is a Scenario-Based paintball team that originated in February 2005. Our team consists of players ranging in age from fifteen years old through fifty-two years old. Our membership is comprised of Law Enforcement, Firefighters, Active Military/Former Military, and High School/College students. Most of our members are located in northeast New Jersey, but we have some players that are from southern New Jersey as well. Our team philosophy is simply this: Play Hard, Play With Honor, Play fair, and always have fun in doing so. The reason behind this is to ensure that our player’s are not playing because they feel obligated too, but are playing for the love of the sport.
Although the team has only been around since February 2005, our core members have played together for several years with a local paintball store’s team. When the store closed for business we decided to start our own scenario team. At the beginning our team consisted of eight players and we were mostly a mission oriented team. After The Battle Of Stalingrad scenario game at Skirmish USA in March of 2005 our team found its niche in the role of base security . With the experience that we took from The Battle Of Stalingrad our team earned Most Valuable Team honors at Invasion Of Normandy 2005 for performing base security and taking on several scenario roles that were instrumental in securing an Axis win. This was the first time ever at a Skirmish event that there was not one successful attack on a headquarters, nor one-elimination of the general. We also participated in The Battle For Bastogne scenario event at West Point Academy in New York and Castle Keep scenario event at Skirmish USA in the fall of 2005. Co-Captain George Shaffer performed the role of Xo at this event.
The 2006 scenario calendar saw us returning to the fields at Skirmish USA for The Battle of Stalingrad II..Co-Captain George Shaffer returned as Xo for the German side and helped to lead the Germans to their fourth straight victory at Skirmish. Team Ragnarok fell back into the security role for this event, as well as having had the pleasure of performing a general assassination on the Russian general thru the hard work of Ragnarok’s spies. In June of 2006 we traveled to USANA Paintball in Elmer, NJ for Pyro Paintball’s NJ Nam. The team lead the anti-armor group at this unique event and hopes to return for NJ Nam 2007. Next on the platter was a road trip to Strategy Plus in Connecticut for Halo. Co-Captain Paul Kolterjahn had the honor of leading the Space Marines as General. Captain Jeffery Esteves helped to run the third entity. July brought the team full circle with a return to Skirmish USA’s Invasion of Normandy 2006. Co-Captain George Shaffer made his third appearance as Xo for the German side. Captain Jeffery Esteves made his first appearance as Co-Xo at this event. The rest of the team filled security, role playing and spy roles, as well as helping hold the beach at what was the largest scenario game in the world this year. While the Germans did not win the event, team member Matt McCrady won an MVP award, team member Micheal Migliorini won the Abbot Award for sportsmanship and excellence in an intellegence role, and both Captain Jeffery Esteves and Co-Captain George Shaffer took home Xo Awards for the Germans. Next up on our schedule was Tombstone at Strategy Plus, Ct. The game was written by Co-captain George Shaffer. To keep things even, George did not play in the game, but Ragnarok did. We came, we saw, we kicked Cowboy butt. Ragnarok helped the Earps side take home the win, and due to the teams dedicated play, took home our second MVT award.
Our team currently consists of thirty-four members and associate members, and is growing monthly. We are always on the lookout for inspired players that are looking to play with a team that has dignity, class, and loves to have fun. It is our team’s cohesiveness and dedication that makes us who we are. We are a well-known and well-respected team in the scenario paintball community and are a featured team at Skirmish, PA events. We have also had mentions in Paintball Sports Magazine, Paintball 2 Extreme’s Magazine, and Action Pursuit Games Magazine. We take on many roles and wear many hats at each event and perform those tasks with dignity and honor. We are always looking for new challenges and enjoy helping the newcomers to the sport at scenario games. .

MAR 29/30 MARCH MELTDOWN:
Join the EMR FAMILY in breaking the winter doldrums and kicking off the season. Trauma of Strategic Paintball will be producing a 8 Hour Scenario Game from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Player’s Party Sat. Night in the Rec. Center, play all Day Sunday on scheduled mini games on various fields. $20 per player for the entire weekend prepaid by 3/14/08 or $30 at the event. (EMR)
