Where Creative Minds Meet

About Me

We are the Koken Art Factory and it's about time you discovered us! It is our pleasure to provide a forum for artists to converge, create, discover, and communicate.
We have been host to a number of events and parties for different groups across St. Louis. The Riverfront Times 30th Anniversary and Best of 2007 Party was held at Koken in November of 2007 and was a real success.
Another hot event was the Naughti Gras party that took place in January 2008. Dozens of artists were able to display their erotic art and a vast amount of the art was sold over the course of the evening!
We will be having more exciting shows in the future, so keep your eyes open for our announcements. Koken is known for our "One Night Only" shows, so if you miss one you'll regret it.

My Interests

Art & creativity. Creating an atmosphere that encourages communication and the free flow of information between artists in the community and throughout St. Louis. We also like being able to showcase artists and organizations that want to get messages out to the community in fun and interesting ways.

I'd like to meet:

If you're looking for a place to talk to other creative individuals, here's the place. We love artists, sculptors, film makers, musicians, and everyone in between. We like people who are looking to have fun and take risks. We'd like to meet you! Look us up!

Music:

Music is art and musicians are artists. We love music and creativity. There is a difference between playing an instrument and being a musician. Nevertheless music is well-loved by everyone at Koken, but tastes are different across the board.

Movies:

St. Louis has a way to go before we will ever have a foot in the door of cinematic history. There needs to be a bit more exploration of film in St. Louis as there are so many talented individuals that could make a huge impact on this scene.

Television:

PBS... period. The weather channel is also very helpful.

Books:

Ah, well. Where should this chapter begin? There have been so many authors that have sparked the creative minds of others through amazingly inspiring stories. Talk about art... (sigh).

Heroes:

Our creative St. Louis people that have made their mark: Mike Peters, Walker Evans, Charles M. Russell, Lee Falk, W. F. Gunn, George E. Hibbard, Al Hirschfeld, Bill Mauldin, Mary Engelbreit, Marrianne Moore, Howard Nemerov, Ernest Trova, among many, many others.
