About Me

2 + 1 = 3

Welcome, Little Dustin - February 18, 2008

taken Sept, 2008

Memorial Page for Dustin.
July 4, 1987 - November 13, 2006

Beloved brother, who touched so many lives,
with humor, kindess, intelligence, and acceptance.
Twisted, goofy, caring, unique, talented, and brilliant.
I love you, will always love you, and carry you with me
Forever.

"And, when he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of Heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish sun."

- W.S.

My Interests

The bare bare bare basics:

Acting. Ancient history. Drawing. Films. GOOD music. Bellydance. Reading (CONSTANTLY). Fantasy, sci-fi, other nerdy pursuits. World of Warcraft. And, of course, the wonderful people in my life.

And oh god, speak intellectually to me.
Please.
Please.

I'd like to meet:

People with brains. These are rare.

Music:

Many types. Classic rock, classical, Celtic, Middle Eastern, Indian, eighties, anything interesting and out of the ordinary... rarely anything in the past decade, but now and then I catch a few I like. Some bands and singers I like are listed in my giant interests list above. Oh, and generally if it's rap/hip-hop or uses stupid abbreviations in the song title, I'll freakin' despise it.

Movies:

Too many to mention, so I'll list what's on my DVD shelf right in front of me.
Keep in mind this doesn't include the two drawerfuls of VHS films and crazy collection of illegally downloaded, but planned-to-be-purchased films...
Let's see...
Lord of the Rings (Extended Editions, baby), Ghostbusters, Three Amigos, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Braveheart, Frida, Antonia's Line, Walk the Line, What Dreams May Come, Tootsie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Big Fish, Love Actually, The Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Edward Scissorhands, Benny and Joon, Dead Man, Ed Wood, Don Juan de Marco, Lost in La Mancha, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, Real Genius, Better Off Dead, The Addams Family, Captain Ron, George of the Jungle, Mean Girls, Saved!, Time Bandits, Legend, Labyrinth, Dark City, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Batman Begins, The Goonies, Peter Pan, Harry Potter 3 and 4, The Secret of Nimh, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Muppet movies, Blazing Saddles, The Pirate Movie, Rain Man, Xanadu, Quills, Waking Ned Devine, Jabberwocky, 12 Monkeys, Cry Baby, To Wong Foo, RHPS, Star Wars Trilogy, Joyeux Noel, The Four Feathers, American Psycho, Bubba Hoetp, Brazil, Breakfast on Pluto, Bride and Prejudice, Pride and Prejudice, But I'm A Cheerleader, Caligula, Capote, Casanova, Clue, Dangerous Liasons, The Lion in Winter, Dazed and Confused, Elizabeth, Shakespeare In Love, Twelfth Night, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Everything Is Illuminated, Fairy Tale, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fern Gully, Good Night and Good Luck, Gormenghast, Gosford Park, I Heard Huckabees, Iron Giant, The Last Unicorn, Lemony Snicket, Logan's Run, Mansfield Park, MirrorMask, Night Watch, Phantom of the Opera, Rasputin, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Secred Window, Sin City, Snatch, Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Swing Kids, Constant Gardener, The Conte de Monte Cristo, The Fisher King, THe Aviator, The Brothers Grimm, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Last of the Mohicans, Never Ending Story, Princess Bride, New World, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Secret Garden, Tipping the Velvet, Virgin Suicides, Whale Rider, Wilde...
so so many...

Television:

When I do watch it, I watch mostly interesting documentaries on Discovery Channel or National Geographic or some such. Or The Crocodile Hunter. Or The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Conan O'Brien. Or Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Or Firefly. Or XENA RERUNS. My Name Is Earl. Star Trek. Bones. House. Grey's Anatomy. Red Dwarf, Black Adder, Father Ted.

Books:

Good gods, how does one who has been a bookworm for 19 years list her favourite books? Mostly fantasy and historical fiction, though plenty of actual historical reference books as I'm a wannabe historian/archeoanthropologist... Stuff like the The Mummu Congress, the Song of Ice and Fire series, LotR trilogy, Harry Potter, Clan of the Cavebear, Good Omens, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Mists of Avalon, Everyday Life in New Kingdom Egypt, Wheel of Time, Song of Ice and Fire, A Handbook to Everyday Life in Ancient Egypt, Mass and Elite in Democratic Athens, Aristophanes' complete works, complete works of Shakespeare, complete works of Oscar Wilde, human sexuality books-- analyzing the history of sex and its impact on society, etc. etc. etc.

Heroes:

My Brother and my parents.

Great actors, authors, and archaeologists. Dr. Zahi Hawass. Johnny Depp. Jessica Lange. Dustin Hoffman. Catherine Zeta-Jones. Christian Bale. Rachel McAdams. Susan Sarandon. Terry Pratchett. George R.R. Martin. Neil Gaiman. Anyone who took part in LotR. Just... so many people.
