Influences: "The future influences the present just as much as the past". My influences started with the Beatles, Steve Howe, late night jazz, Mike Gallaher, Flash, Yes , Pat Metheny, Santana, David Torn, KTU, minimalist and soundscaping composers, John Cage, Phillip Glass, Chris Botti, Henry Kaiser, Andy Summers, cutting edge world thinkers and changers, other cultures, late nights with a cup of coffee in one hand; a paint brush in the other, (or was that a guitar?) looping, music software, technology, dream stages, life , family, friends, psalm 33:3, john 3:16, The Holy Word -( Thank you COJ for allowing me to continue to use my gift as well as experiencing the great talents and gifts of the coj music team). Additional thanks to John Tinker for keeping a guitar in my hand, and Olsteen for keeping a song in my heart. Regrets to "Vertical Vision" that was realized but never took flight. All of these and many more dear souls have left their fingerprints on my musical persona. The musical architecture that one builds during a lifetime is never complete. as society is social , music is social and ever changing. We are the creative templates for the future. Music studied as a complexity evokes self exploratory competence. Its more than ear candy- it manipulates the emotional and spiritual. It pushes boundaries in the linguistic area of our auditory cortex. Even the simplicity of looping shapes and patterns which is liken to me as negative space in a painting which as a whole is every bit as important as the composition, activates our emotional center. The gift of creativity is like a wave, first as ripple from a pebble but enveloping and surpassing all boundaries.
Sounds Like: a magnitude of influences and inspiration in the artistic realm are overwhelming: visionary architects: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Peter Cook and Archigram, Lebbeus woods, Patrick Nagel, Gunter Ludwig, Gunther Domenig, Phillip Glass, Frank Gehry, the metabolist group, Frank R Paul and the floating cities concept , Gerhard Richters stadte cities atlas 116, frank Loyld Wright, Paolo Solari and the Arcosanti project (our future) - artists to include- the fauves, the Hudson River painters group, kurt Schwitters, George Braque, Pablo Picasso, Lionel Feininger, Turner, Klimet, John Jude Palencar, Raushenberg, Pollock, Frank Stella, Robert Hakalski and visual machinery, books by Italo Calvino, Jim Carroll, Elie Wiesel, Francis collins, Daniel J levitan, classical archaeology, the winged victory and the great archaeological recoveries at Delphi and Corinth, (all truths are easy to understand once their discovered, the point is to discover them.) Romans 13:10 , 2nd Peter 3:13, 1st John 3:11 , apostle Paul and how to make an impact! Todays thinkers and world changers of Pop! tech conferences like Van Jones, Victoria Hale, and Christian Nold. Also people like artist Chris Jordan that takes an alarming and disturbing statistical approach in his work that portrays the vast amount of human consumption and waste in our mass culture.
