DUO VIVO

About Me

In 2002, the young musicians Chris Marinos and Nikos Adraskelas decided to dedicate themselves to a piano duo under the name “Duo Vivo” while still studying at the “Ars Nova” Conservatory under Christina Tertipi in Athens Greece. Since their first collaboration they had soon been invited to give several concerts across Greece. ?heir formal debut took place in 2006 at the 22nd Summer Seminars and Festival on Mount Pelion in Central Greece. Recitals in cities in Greece and Austria followed. Today their repertoire ranges from the baroque era to Ligeti and Messiaen, and the two have a particular interest in and love for contemporary music. Arranging pieces for 1 piano - 4 hands and 2 pianos - 4 hands is also one of their beloved activities. They describe one of their most significant life stages as their association with the pianist, conductor, pedagogue and philosopher of music, Prof. George Hadjinikos, under whose teaching they have been guided since 2002. Under Hadjinikos’ guidance, they have embarked on a path that leads to a more sincere and fundamental understanding and interpretation of music.Chris Marinos was born in Athens. In 1988 he moved to New York where his first musical studies began at the “Frank Toscano Music School”. After returning to Athens, in 1999 he continued his studies at the “Ars Nova” Conservatory (piano, theory, harmony, chamber music etc.). In 2002 he was appointed administrator of the archives of the Greek composer, Jani Christou. He has edited the second edition of the Greek translation of the book “Jani Christou – The Works and Temperament of a Greek Composer” by Anna Martine Lucciano. Since 2005 he has been a regular contributor to the Greek musical website www.classicalmusic.gr, and since 2007 a consultant at the web-radio station RadioArt.Nikos Adraskelas was born in Athens and in 1994 began his musical education at the “Ars Nova” Conservatory in Athens, where he graduated in 2004 with a piano diploma (excellence and first prize). He is held responsible of the private archive of Prof. George Hadjinikos since 2004.Marinos and Adraskelas hold the “Recital Certificate of Pianoforte Performance” of Guildhall School of Music and Drama of London with distinction since 2001 as well as degrees in Harmony and Counterpoint. They have accompanied the renowned tenor’s Takis Finas singing class at the “Ars Nova” Conservatory and have been members of the Ars Nova Vocal Ensemble. They have also taken violoncello and conducting lessons as well as lessons on aesthetics of art, contemporary music, master-classes and seminars on music and various forms of art by musicians and professors such as Kurt Masur, Zouzou Nikoloudi, George Hadjinikos, Evgeny Kolmanovich, Evangelos Sarafianos, Konstantinos P. Karampelas-Sgourdas, Wladimir and Swetlana Khinganskiy, Dimitris Toufexis and others.
