Julien Verdier was born in 1981 and grew up in south of Paris. He took his first drums lessons at age of 12 with local drummers Laurent Quantin, Jean FranÃ§ois Jacquin, and RÃ©my Paillet. Then he studied with Daniel Pichon at the "Institut des Arts Ryhtmiques". In 2002, he entered at the National Drums School: "Dante Agostini Paris" and acquired the superior certificate in 2004. He began being interrested in Jazz music in 2003 and entered at the "ENMD de Bourg La Reine" (Ecole Nationale de Musique et de Danse) and studied jazz music with Vincent Jacqz, Eric Schulz, Gary Brunton, David Doruzka, and Laurent Coq. He obtained the "DEM Jazz" in 2007. In 2008, he was admitted for the last round of admission for the "CNSM" (Conservatoire National SupÃ©rieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris). During this last years, he took part in masterclasses with Georges Paczinsky, Roscoe Mitchell, Mike Stern, Stephane Huchard, Guillaume De Chassy, Simon Goubert, Christophe Wallemme, Marc Copland.. He also took private lessons with French jazz drummers such as Franck Agulhon, FrÃ©dÃ©rique DelestrÃ©, Matthieu Chazarenc, Jean Yves Roucan, Karl Jannuska.. Recently arrived in Paris, Julien is trying leading his musician’s life...
