Reading, writing, but not arithmetic. Daydreaming. People-watching. Puddle-jumping. Kissing till dawn. Laughing till it hurts. Especially laughing till it hurts.
funny people, creative people, inspiring people, beautiful people.
Right now, I'm listening to: Josh Ritter (Obsessively!), Neko Case (Also obsessively), The Frames (Oh, they make me ache so deliciously.), The Be Good Tanyas (So catchy and lovely to boot.), Ryan Adams ('Cause Qbertplaya decided I should like him, and I do.), The Magic Numbers ('Cause they just make me feel good), Cat Power (So cute live with a voice as fantastic as it is on her records), Rilo Kiley (I heart Jenny Lewis's voice.), Iron and Wine (Yummy songs. Yummy voice.), Joe Purdy (Fantastic songwriter with a great voice), OK Go (Fun, fun, fun. Hot, hot, hot.), Stars (Fucking amazing!), Ani Difranco (Consistently great), Mike Doughty (Unbelieveably catchy), Jurassic 5 (Rock my body), Lyle Lovett (Country music that's smart), Lucinda Williams (Makes me ache in a whole other way), Wilco (I want a new album.), and whatever else fits my mood (I'm always looking for new bands to listen to obsessively.)
I'm a film addict. I tend to go for arty and foreign films, but I don't have pretentious movie tastes. I was raised on a steady diet of Mel Gibson and Jean-Claude Van Damme movies, and I like mindless entertainment as much as the next girl. I'm a sucker for a good scary movie. (The Shining is the all-time scariest--still gives me nightmares.) British humor rocks my world, and I love movies by Wong Kar-Wai and Zhang Yimou. (I took a Chinese cinema course in college.) Vertigo is an amazing movie, and I loved Lost in Translation. A Fish Called Wanda is always good for a laugh, and if I'm feeling blue, Disney films are the way to go. Aladdin never fails to cheer me up. (I'm not embarrassed to admit it, either.) Oh, and one of my student's movies--13 Tzameti. Really fantastic and heart-pounding, if you like that sort of stuff.
Okay, I only have network tv channels, and school is kicking my butt, so I'm not really watching much tv right now. When I do watch, Scrubs and Arrested Development are the funniest things on television (except Arrested Development isn't on tv anymore). I'm a Lost addict, and I enjoy Grey's Anatomy, too. Numb3rs fulfills my nerd-loving side. That David Krumholtz is kind of sexy. I'm a sucker for math and science geeks, what can I say?
The books I love are my bibles, and there are so many of them. I have ongoing love affairs with the following: The English Patient, Alessandro Baricco, Milan Kundera, The Feast of Love, Housekeeping, e.e. cummings, Mrs. Dalloway, Jane Austen, Aureole, Andre Aciman, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Nikki Giovanni, Scribbling the Cat, and so many others. Did I mention that I love books?
People who carry out crazy ideas.
