About Me

Saki Aihara was born in a middle class family in Japan. After years of taking organ lessons, had received tenor saxophone part for a high school brass orchestra, instead of trombone. Studied classical music at an university Tokyo, during the college life playing classical solo tunes with my new alto saxophone, met improvisation on especially reggae, ska, rocksteady music, switched to tenor saxophone, started playing many gigs with many types of ska bands, included "Japonicans", also with jazz influenced pop bands. After the college graduation, moved to New York fall 2004. Since then, have had many opportunities to perform with core musicians at many musical venues. appeared on a Manhattan cable access television show “Checkerboad Kids”, performed with included a member of Skatalites, Kevin Batchelor. have played with such as NY based rock band “Simon & The Bar Sinisters”, early Jamaican ska band “Scorchers”, roots reggae band “Konga - I”. Also was on an electronic dub project “Dub Engine” and many many more. Also an audio engineer, doing recording, mixing music and podcast, doing live sound at a music venue in New York.
