I am here for Friends

About Me

I really don't know where to start... I'm a very proud, mother of four. Above-and-beyond anything else, it's my "job" to raise bright, talented, happy, and productive, individuals. The things I value: Education, charity, independence, and tolerance. The things I dislike: Ignorance or selfishness.I love stamping and/or scrapbooking. I love creating. I love the sciences and history. I enjoy sarcasm and cynicism. I enjoy sarcasm and humor. I'm also a cynic. I work from home, doing various projects and research.

My Interests

medicine, history, stamping, scrapbooking, philosophy

I'd like to meet:

For the fun of it: Robin Williams. John Stewart. For their world view: Al Franken. Jimmy Carter, Mary Roach, Sarah Vowell, Richard DawkinsDead people I'd like to meet: Joseph Smith (I just want to ask him if he was totally sincere and see if he can keep a straight face!). Queen Elizabeth I and her pops Henry VIII. John Adams and Thomas Paine (I have a few questions that I'd like settled once and for all.) Darwin.I would love to spend an entire day with the cast of House.

Music:

Varied. I am a huge Parrot Head. I tend towards "old school" stuff, but I increasingly find that I'm drawn into my eldest daughter's likes (musically). My kids, and our babysitter/nanny keep me "in tune" with the newer stuff. As such; I'm comfortable grooving to a slew of different tunes. :) On a classical note; Berlioz, Mozart, and, Bach.

Movies:

Favorites: The American President Independence Day Men in Black (and sequel) Dogma Office Space

Television:

House, MD. ER. Mythbusters. Ghost Hunters. The American Experience. Frontline. Daily Show. Big Love

Books:

Mary Roach, Sarah Vowel, Gina Kolata, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, and many, many more. Books are my escape.

Heroes:

I don't think I have any heroes. I don't even like that term. To set someone up as a hero is to deny them their ability to be human. Most unfair.

My Blog

Dave... knows me pretty damn well.

I think Mike could take him, though. I just have to share some of the answers that people have given to the "How well do you know me bulletin."  Ok...keep in mind that there are at least two peop...

Balance

I think a great many people, who know me in real life, would be surprised to find out that I have a problem with balance.  I think all adults struggle, somewhat.  However, there's this very ...

Wii 've been invaded

Lexi and Jake managed to save their allowance money, and holiday cash, until they had an amount that sufficiently covered the cost of a Wii, two games, and two nunchucks.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I don't check this blog very often.  It's the least used of the three blogs I post to.  However, I wanted to find a few people this evening and give them a quick add.  As I was about t...

Chicago

Christ-on-a-cracker, I feel old. I was sitting here, at my desk, finishing up some script work and listening to the music feed from the 80's channel on our cable service.  Chicago, ah....the clas...

Is it Christmas yet?

Fall is flying by.  I need a hiatus, if you will.  It seems like we get one thing solved and another issue pops up.  The kids are all great.  I just updated the slideshow on my p...
