Tow Down
The Texas Tycoon
Born and raised in Houston, Tow Down is a white rapper with a niche. At 6’4", with a big build and four highlighted curls adorning his crown, he doesn’t exactly fit the stereotype of someone who is destined to be a force in the rap industry. Tow Down began rapping in the school cafeteria when he was in eighth grade and eventually turned his hobby into a career. He joined local group Thugs Of Another Kind, who released a self-titled album in 1998 on D.I.M.E. Records. When the group later disbanded because of creative differences, Tow Down resurfaced as a solo act and spent nine months recording his debut album "By Prescription Only"."I’m into everything from Run D.M.C. to Led Zeppelin to George Strait," says Tow Down. "I like to take bits and pieces of every genre. I baked the pie so everybody can have a slice: rockers, the real hip-hop ghetto thugs, and the Hispanic market." Tow Down and Mixtape DJ of the Year O.G. Ron C pair up on D.I.M.E. Records’ current release, "Diamonds & Tattoos". This double disc album contains collaborations with other notable rappers such as Houston’s Mike Jones and Lil’ Flip, as well as Hawk, Shade Sheist, Nate Dogg, and Triple.
