Milonga del Norte

The Milonga del Norte ensemble began in the year 2003, by incentive of Claudio Constantini, the group´s leader and his wife Suvi Myöhänen. It was at first based in the small and quiet city of Lahti, Finland, where all the musicians met at the Music Faculty of the Lahti Polytechnic where they were studying at the moment.The Milonga del Norte ensemble specializes in the musical genre of Argentinean Tango. The repertoire consists of old and new tangos, in new arrangements made by the group´s leader, Claudio Constantini. With this new repertoire, the Milonga del Norte ensemble seeks to find it´s place in the Tango music scene as an original group, not only because of the repertoire but also because of the formation which is unusual.The Milonga del norte ensemble has offered numerous concerts in Finland and have been invited to play in music festivals such as Maailmantango Festivaali, Riihimäki Chamber Music festival, Turku Jazz festival, etc. In the year 2005 they won the 1st prize in the International Astor Piazzolla Music Award, in Italy. Since then, they have established themselves as a well-known and respected group in Finland and abroad.
