Stephen Cooper was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela on January 17, 1981. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, then moved into other instruments.
In early 1998, he started working on what would become his goth/industrial rock project. In the beginning he wanted to form a band, but couldn’t find people who share his vision. In 1999 he briefly joined the death metal local band Eterna Oscuridad, where he played guitar and wrote a couple of songs, but returned to his main project.
That year, tired of looking for bandmates, he entered a local studio and recorded his first demo. After recording this demo, he recruited live musicians, and Infeccion Mental was born. The band started playing gigs around the area, and built a small following. The band disbanded in 2001, and Cooper went solo.
In early 2003, Cooper released his first EP. "Beautiful Disease", the opening track, caught the attention of SpiderBite Studios, and is featured on the Vinyl and Violence compilation. Later that year, Cooper hit the studio again to record his debut album entitled: Self-Degradation Of The Human Being. A concept album about the decadence of mankind that showcases a blend of industrial, electronica and hard rock. Cooper tried to license it to record labels, but nothing happened, leading him to form his own record label Punishment Records.
Cooper has also provided music for Light and Dark Productions and has been featured on numerous internet radio shows.
