Mongoose! Mongoose!

About Me

Okay, so, yeah: played D&D back in the day (enjoyed being a Paladin), then grew up and went to a college which allowed me to remain a geek and yet seem kinda cool. Cute girls tolerated my Curb Your Enthusiasm qualities as long as i was fun; so, basically, my geekishness has been both coddled and hidden. For example: I wear contact lenses -- perfect grown-up-geek thing. Not to worry, however, I've developed social skills and a sense of style. Not quite "which fork goes with which entre," but I'm good at holding a conversation and don't randomly snicker to myself about creepy private jokes. . . Other stuff: Live in the Hollywood Hills overlooking a deer path. I've seen 10 deer at once, 4 owls, 2 coyotes, 15 ravens, and a gaggle of geese. (Not really on the last one: I just like the word "gaggle.") I love LA in the semi-wilderness. It almost rivals NYC, my hometown, but not quite. . . . What else? Oh, I got ordained to be minister! I can marry people! How bizarre is that? Did it online, and it's real; and yet I'm still the same un-enlightened schlub. . . Favorite/ Most Embarrassing moment: I was 14 -- just the right time to take yourself seriously. I was at a huge sprawlihng gala event with Raul Julia. After a few drinks, Raul got up, tapped his glass, and sang. Wow. A beautiful aria for his wife -- soulful, majestic. Everyone cried. So, of course, a couple of drinks later, I thought -- Well, it was my turn, right? I had to return the favor -- the Gift of Song. I got up, cleared my 14 year old lungs, and belted out "I Want Somebody to Love" by Depeche Mode. And I meant it. Every cell in my awkward little body. Song ended -- no one had cried. But I do think most had bitten through their cheeks, trying not to laugh. . . . Hope all's well in your world.
