Summaries are not something that I find satisfying

About Me

I'm a semi-workaholic IT chick who is passionate about politics (I'm a liberal), technology (I love Linux/BSD. Tolerate Windows/Mac), photography (Yay film!), reading (lately haven't had time for anything non-technical in nature. But love a good book.) and I like people that are capable of engaging me mentally. I'm quirky and often off-color in my humor. I like rollerblading, and frequently blade the loop in Central Park.
Oddly enough, I'm not seeking cybersex. And uh. not interested in dating guys. Seriously. And definitely not interested in dating guys that cannot/will not read or that are lacking in the area of reading comprehension. ;)

My Interests

Many and varied. Politics, technology, cooking, reading, writing, learning, music, photography, history, the arts, etc. I don't get along well with sports, though. I'm a do-er, not a voyeur.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting and passionate people with things to say, thoughts to think, and dreams to live.

And I'd like to meet Jonathan for pizza. But that ain't never gonna happen. Boo. Hiss. (update: it happened.Nearly a year ago already! yay! but i suck at keeping my profile up to date. :p)

BTW, it's important to note that "no talkee" means "no friendee". It should be a given, but there's a weird movement where people add random people to their friends list in order to appear far more popular than they really are. :p

Music:

Coldplay, Soul Coughing, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps, the Beatles, Moloko, Stabbing Westward, various classical music, Queen, Eve 6, Candlebox.. Lots of stuff. Anything that isn't raw noise.

Television:

Lately.. Queer as Folk, the L. Word... I don't really watch TV when it's playing on TV. I get the DVDs from Netflix. I like being able to squeeze it into my schedule, and not deal with commercials. And TiVo gives me hives.

Books:

Lately, cyberpunk and geek-lit. Cryptonomicon.. Snow Crash. "Stealing the Network" series. The Bug. Stuff that gets my inner geek all revved up and grinning.

Heroes:

Too many to list.

The Way I'd Tell the Story

We get caught up sometimes in stories. The storyline of a novel, or the plot of a movie. Carefully planned out and poetic. Real life just isn't like that. It's messy, it's incremental, things th...

The Language is Wrong... But the flow is perfect.

It's a geek fetish. Language that violates every standard rule of grammar, but flow in a lilting, poetic, absurd way. Here there be dragons. (and other pirate talk) All your base are belong to us. It ...

Addictive

I'm an addict. I find myself firing up the IDE for additional non-billable hours, and fiddling with the client's code, seeking out the elusive bugs that I know are there, and seeking the solutions. Ev...

Discontent

Sometimes I feel a quiet sort of desperation in which I know I need to be doing something, in which I want to be doing something, but I am unable to figure out what that something is. So I sort of ree...

myspace blogging

I always find it interesting that myspace puts the blog up front, up top the way it does, even when the blog has no entries in it. The first thing they're making you read about everyone is "Hello, I h...
