Bio
Beat scholar, party scientist, ragga maniac, and remixer of singers from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs , DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of crunkment, mashstep, ragga-bounce, and grime-hall across the land. He's been pumping out a series of records on U.S., U.K., and Japanese labels including a remix of M.I.A.'s U.R.A.Q.T. for her Galang 05 single on XL Recordings , as well as singles for Shockout , Community Library , his own Mashit imprint. The tunes have been killing club sound-systems and airwaves worldwide. In fact, legendary BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a " label of the month " and featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks .
Most recently he's been collaborating with bad-man-ragga-vocalist Zulu on a series vinyl releases. Their track Darling will be released shortly on 12-inch with a remix by Montreal bounce maestro Ghislain Poirier . DJ C's remix of Poirier's track "Blazin'" is also about to be released on a Ninja Tune 12-inch. In addition to all the singles, his full-length album Sonic Weapons was released this summer on the Japanese Wimm Recordings label, along-side a Sonic Weapons 12-inch EP released on Bristol U.K.'s Death$ucker label. These followed his Traced Milk EP released last year.
There's more DJ C material in the pipeline; for Berlin-based Man Recordings "Funk Mundial" series, and the upcoming London-based Heatwave 12-inch series to name a couple. DJ C is also well known for his online DJ mixes . A recent mix for the Blentcast series was downloaded fourty-thousand times in its first 3 months online. When he's not busy recording, he DJs and performs live for crowds the world over. Look out for a DJ C appearance near you, as a perpetual string of North American and European tour dates continue...

Sonic Weapons Full-Length Album

DJ C's Sonic Weapons album is now available to download here .

And as a CD from these fine online retailers:

    Forced Exposure (U.S.) Circut City (U.S.) Amazon.com (U.S.) Sam Goody (U.S.) MTV Shop (U.S.) Soul Seduction (Austria / Audio Samples) Amazon.co.uk (U.K.) Play.com (U.K.) Grooves-Inc (Germany) Amazon.de (Germany) Warszawa (Japan) HMV (Japan)

Or ask for it at your favorite mom and pop record shop.

The CD features guest appearances by Chicago-based bad-man ragga vocalist Zulu , world renowned Viennise thereminist Pamelia Kurstin , wicked wicked Boston riddim scholar Wayne&Wax , Jamaican vocalists Wasp and Dami D, and U.K. toaster Quality Diamond. The album was mastered by Berlin's Stefan Betke — AKA Pole — so it sounds huge, and it features a brilliant cover illustration by NYC's one-and-only David Last .

DJ C knows the bass! Sonic Weapons is a perfect collection of digital ragga, post-jungle tracks and big riddims with a really distinctive and personal approach. It's heavy, bouncy and perfect party music. I play his tracks often in my DJ sets!
- Ghislain Poirier

A Sonic Weapons 12-inch EP has also been released on the Death$ucker label, which features a couple of tracks from the album, as well as the infamous, but as yet unreleased bluegrass-core tune, Who Wah Seek Yo, and a remix of said track by Leipzig, Germany's LXC .

What's next breakcore with soul? There are so many influences injected into this record it's quite breathtaking, but the real killer is the bass heavy dancefloor killer 'Come Back Version'. Get in!!
