I read and collect comics & Graphic Novels,I have a decent sized movie library leaning towards B-movies and cult classics.I'm still learning the fine art of cd burning and file swapping.I'm a huge sports fan especially baseball.I also like to play computer games,Arcade games and pinball as well.If I had more room I'd expand on my Movie poster collection.I also like Anime,Hentai & Manga as well as independent comics(No DC for me).
Really I'm just here trying to keep up with bands,people and artists that i like.I've not meant many "real" friends here which is fine since I'm at this point interested in keeping up with the above mentioned .If you are interested in chatting sometime though I am certainly approachable.
I was bigtime into punk and hardcore in my teens & early 20's and still will occasionally listen to it although I'm hardly passionate about it.I was also a metalhead and still am to an extent.Although alot of what passes for metal music these days doesn't thrill me. I'm also a sucker for New Wave music from the 80's.I don't like country music or classical.I do try to keep up with what's going on today but music isn't the priority it was before.
I love movies especially B-movies from the 70's & 80"s.I'm also partial to movies made between 1965-1995 since those movies represent an era.I also work part-time at a video store so I keep up with newer movies as well.Some of my favorite actors are Jennifer Jason Leigh,Christopher Walken,Jamie Lee Curtis,Sam Elliott,Jennifer Esposito,Uma Thurman,Rutger Hauer & Jodie Foster. As for directors I love Quentin Tarantino,Walter Hill,Jack Hill,John Carpenter,Steve Miner,Adrian Lynne,Paul Schrader,Allan Moyle,Penelope Spheris & Norman Jewison. I like Dario Argento,Lucio Fulci,Mario Landi,Lamberto Brava and Jean Rollin as far as european directors go.I think Roger Corman is the god of B-moviedom and that the bizzare world of Joe D'amato is worth exploring. I think Dario's daughter Asia has bright future in film as does Sophia Coppola for that matter.I'm not big into old black & white cinema although occasionally I will watch one I like on tv.As for b-actresses Shannon Whirry is my favorite followed by the likes of Julie Strain,Kathy Shower,Jullie k.Smith,Brinke Stephens,Linnea Quigley,Shannon Tweed & many more who come and go like Jewel Sheppard ,Monique Gabrielle,Monique Parent & Shauna O'Brien.I have a soft spot for the lovely Laura Gemser as well.I also love asian cinema and karate cinema.I like the older Jackie Chan movies before he became Hollywoodized.Bruce Lee was amazing if egocentrical.Jet Li,Don wilson & Cynthia Rothrock also are fun to watch.
I'm not big on tv shows .I do watch alot of Law and Order reruns though.Of the new shows I like Chuck on NBC but have given up on Heroes and The Bionic Woman.I still watch Deal or No Deal someday someone's going to win that million dollars I'm sure of it.
Not much besides graphic novels and magazines.I have the attention span of a 5 year old and can't read books or if I do it'll take me awhile.I've read autobiographys by the likes of Larry Bird,Wrestler Mick Foley & pornstar Christy Canyon in the past.Oh and I'm reading a book on the making of the Friday the 13th movie series as well .Actually I've read a few books on baseball recently as well.
Hero worship is a bad thing.There's tons of people out there who's work and drive I admire.I don't want to glorify a ton of people but a few worth mentioning are writer/comentator Arianna Huffington,tennis star Monica Seles,musician/activist Tom Morello,hedonist/buisnessman Hugh Hefner,and the king of do-it yourself-& cheaply cinema Roger Corman. Basically anyone who has an opinion and isn't afraid to voice it is good in my book.On a corny note of course I admire my Dad as well.
