Music has been in Elliott Christ’s blood since he wore out the vinyl of his parents’ copy of The Traveling Wilburys Volume 1—at age two. After learning piano at five and guitar at eight, his musical ability skyrocketed. By high school, he was playing acoustic solo open coffeehouse mikes, as well as intense jams with old hands at the famously rowdy Barto Hotel.
When he moved to New York City to attend New York University, he quickly sought out open mikes, playing at Faye’s At the Square, The Baggot Inn, and the now-closed Satellite Bar. His recordings “Living Ad†and “In Charge of the Show†made it into the student-produced Gallatone Volume 2 and 3 compilations, respectively.
In the fall of 2005, he started Elliott Christ and the Avengers, a group that evolved through several lineups into The Pony Express. "The band channels its heroes Dylan, Young, and Cash heavily,†wrote Zach Barangan of the Washington Square News, “but does each and every one of them justice." The band played to enthusiastic crowds at Kenny’s Castaways, The Lion’s Den, The Bitter End, and The Knitting Factory. Christ has since gone solo and is excited about what the future of his music career holds.
Elliott Christ lives in Brooklyn with his girlfriend and six different stringed instruments.
