I've been enlisted in the U.S. Navy for over a year, and my job is Boatswain's Mate(BM). I chose the job because I prefer to work outside and learn all there is to a ship. Unfortunately the Navy represents everything I am not. The Navy is full of selfish children, rednecks, wannabe gangsters, and anti-environmental a-holes. The things I have seen in the Navy sickens me. At least it's not forever, and I will have a good amount of cash when I get out.
I have volunteered at a few animal sanctuaries in my life. My most recent, longest, and greatest place that I have ever volunteered was Sonoma Animal Rescue in 2007/2008. They have a viewing area for visitors, with a few animals that are friendly and cannot be released back into the wild. Coyote's, red fox, gray fox, squirrel, hawk, and a wolfdog. They receive some injured animals and alot of baby animals, usually from being found or the mother being killed. People bring the animals in and they do the rest. The baby's usually go through the process of being taken in by a volunteer, who takes care of them in their house... feeds, cleans, and such until they are ready for the enclosures at the Animal Rescue. The injured one's go through the hospital where they are treated, than they go to a private cage in the nursery, and once healed from there they go to the bigger enclosures. My job was feeding the animals, and cleaning the enclosures. I also would check to see if meds or any special arrangements were needed, such as moving an animal.
