The Low Road Blues Band are a rockin' blues band based out of Livermore, California and have been heard many different times under many different names by, pretty much, the same seven or eight people. At their first concert, while still a quartet, they were called Leading Tone and the Submediants. This name, it turned out, was very difficult to remember and many non musical people had no idea what it meant. Shortly after that wonderful show the Submediants were dealt a terrible card; the loss of their bass player. Matt, in a freak bear trapping accident, broke his hand and was unable to perform on the bass (as it turned out, his one handed bass playing was still better than most other bass players the band had tried). It was also around this time that Ellen, the perpetually tardy, began to show up to the rehearsals. The band was asked to play music for a luau/diversity/major exploration fair at LPC. Without a bass player the Submediants begged Cindy Browne, legendary local bass player, to sit in for a set which prompted their next name change to Downtown Cindy Browne and the Blue Heiners. Of course our fan didn't get this joke either since they had no idea who Cindy or this mysterious Heiner character was.
The band continued to practice with very little focus on creating a stable name. LPC, once again, requested their presence at a special open house to commemorate the school's 30th anniversary. With Matt still a little gimpy and Cindy selling nachos at a local snack bar the band was forced to find another bass player and change their name again. Throughout their short history they have been called Leading Tone and the Submediants, Downtown Cindy Browne and the Blue Heiners, Music for DaMasses by DaMasses, Deja Ve Dennis and the Deja Ve Dennis, Blues Noir, and a number of other things that shouldn't be repeated in mixed company. It wasn't until May 6, 2005 that the band, out of desperation and with Matt back on bass, finally settled on the name you have come to love them by, The Low Road Blues Band.
