About Me

Firstly and mostly, I'm feeling fairly passionate about this video at the moment. Watch it. Absorb it. Feel it.:
Now... the rest:
Bearded adventurer.... Garrrrrrr! (ok, inside joke... ) No, but seriously, I am... only I laugh more, and with less of a wheezing cackle... oh, and I don't wear an eye patch.....................
Yyyyyeah... so anyway, the bearded adventurer bit is rather occupying, and although I've recently left my heart in San Francisco:(, I find world gallivanting an otherwise rewarding wave to ride out, at least until the need for normalcy catches my ass and plants it. Adventure, excitement and a hint of danger, maybe every so often an opportunity to meet a world leader; gotta admit, it beats accounting, no offense to accountants of course...............
Other than that I guess you could say I'm your average, everyday New Zealand reared/ Texas raised, California-dreamin, flag-wavin, reggae jam'in, leftish-of-center leanin, former Marine-be'in, sushi and steak-lovin, internationally conscious beach bum patriot adventurer romantic, who believes you should strive to love thy neighbor, finish your cocktails, vote your [self-educated] conscience, cheer the underdog, take yourself less seriously, question the roots of absolutist religions, get a tattoo, ponder the possibility of a world at peace, kill the bastards with kindness, and be socially responsible enough to expand your cultural, political and spiritual horizons through wordly travels and moderated tolerance to all things "different" and "weird." Can i get an 'Ahmen?' Can a get a 'Hallalujiah!?'

My Interests

Ohhh, what's to say....? I like some manly-man-type stuff (grilling, hockey, beer, dogs, golf, poker, getting big like arnold, Harley Davidsons, Angelina Jolie, and DeNiro flicks), and some cultured-type stuff (cooking, wine, art, meditation, long hikes, museums, and yes, even my mother)........... and I'm a travelin, road trippin fool... or at least a fool of some rare variety anyway :)

Music:

I like the banjo... And pretty much anything by Barry Manilo...
when that gets old I plug into anything from Thievery Corporation (lots o' thievery) and PortisHead to Bad Religion and 311, From Public Enemy and De La Soul to Helmet and Hole. Henry Rollins, Sonny Rollins, Primus, the Pogues, Beastie, Matisyahu, Soul Coughing, the Reverend (Horton Heat this is), Beck, Cake, Depeche Mode, the Cure, Pennywise, Marley, Moby, Fastball, Jane's Addiction, the Toadies, Front 242, NOFX, FISHBONE, 808 State, The Strokes, KMFDM, Green Day, The Gypsy Kings, Steel Pulse, Johnny Cash, TOOL, and A Tribe Called Quest (just to name a few). OH, and I'm down w/ virtually ALL reggae and 80's retro... Then there are my queens: Ella, Billie, Bjork, Sade, Fiona, and of course Norah. So, basically, I'm a music whore, what can I say?!..

Movies:

Elf, Super Troopers, Apacalypse Now, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, Office Space, Angelheart, the Usual Suspects, Shaun of the Dead, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Forest Gump (and most everything else with Tom Hanks), the Matrix (in spite of Keaneau), Gladiator, Snatch, the Big Labowski, Goodfellas, Seven, Blade Runner, and possibly (although I'm still not sure how I really feel about it)... Nepoleon Dynamite. Most recently, KISS KISS, BANG BANG... great flick!

Television:

Not too big on the t.v. in general, BUT.. when I am, it's all about The Daily Show (The most brilliant TV show in history), SouthPark (the secondmost brilliant show in TV history) and usually whatever is on Discovery (Man v. Wild), TLC, National Geographic or the Comedy Channel (love Scrubs).

Books:

Last good read was the Wherever You Go There You Are. Favorite of all time is HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy or posisbly the Hot Zone. Most influentual book was Mind Power by John Kehoe. Favorite poet is Poe. Favorite classic is a toss up between Homer's Odyssey or Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace (yeah, right). Other than that, anything by Bob Woodward or the Dalai Lama.

Heroes:

the Dalai Lama, Mario Lemieux, Henry Rollins, Ghengis Khan, my mother, Lance Armstrong, Angelina Jolie, Yoda, Colin Powell (in spite of that maniac.. u know who...), and Mother Theresa
