The Regulators

About Me

In the late 50's ,Kingston- Jamaica, a new kind of music was born:Ska.A swinging mix of Jamaican folkmusic and Rhythm & Blues, but also with other black music influences as Soul, Gospel, Boogie Woogie and Jazz. After years Ska was taken over by Rocksteady and Reggae.Twenty years later the Ska has made his comeback, this time in Europe. British bands played a modern up-tempo Ska.Well known bands at that time are:Madness,The Specials,The Selecter,The Beat and Bad Manners .A number of bands remained to play the traditional Ska, also The Regulators. This band has grown at the end of the eighties by a couple of friends with the meaning to let the old years become alive again with inspirators like Justin Hinds,Rico Rodriquez,Laurel Aitken,Prince Buster,Desmond Dekker,Derrick Morgan,The Claredonians and The Skatalites. The played two times as support act for The Skatalites & New York Ska Jazz Ensemble. In foreign countries as Belgium and Germany The Regulators are well known.A number of tracks are appears on collection CD's. The Regulators now exists at 7 members with musicians from the Dutch Ska,Jazz & Reggae-scene. They just released their debut C.D.("Tune in your Regulator")
