Live, Laugh, Love

About Me

I am 28 years old and grew up in beautiful southwest Detroit, Michigan. I was raised by a bunch of characters whom I fondly refer to as my family, who have influenced my life and who I have become in many ways. This bunch extending from my parents to my grandparents, to a variety of aunts, uncles, and family friends, I often refer to myself as someone who truly was raised by a "village". I am a city girl, through and through, and currently reside with my own little family (still) in southwest Detroit.I am married to an indescribable man named Erik and have two pittbull terriers named Tequila and Carson. ( They're NOT mean; they're my babies!) I teach pre-school at a local head start program and love the opportunity that I have been given to help shape young lives. I am a strong believer in the importance of education and in the immense value of our children. This fall I plan on beginning the journey towards my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. Other things that interest me include reading, music, friends/family, movies, cooking, stimulating conversation, on and on..LOVEMYFLASH CODE

My Interests

Love to people-watch wherever I go, even just while driving (when I am in the passenger seat, of course!) I am into literature, both fiction and non-fiction. I also like independent/foreign films, hanging out with friends, having gatherings at my house, meeting/talking to new people, cooking/baking, and listening to music. I am fascinated by pictures and what they capture, but am growing more interested in photography as an art form, and love Van Gogh, Renoir, and Rivera. Finally, though I once thought it was a thankless task, I am ALL ABOUT supporting our youth through mentoring, and simply providing a network of support for our next generation. Meet the youth and adults of Expressions, my second family, as showcased in my top friends list.....

I'd like to meet:

Madonna - so I can ask her how I can still have a body like hers at nearly 50 years of age! Other pleasant encounters could include Tupac Shakur, J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey, Jim Morrison, and other fascinating people.View All Friends | View Blog | View Pics

Morality versus Hypocrisy

I was raised Catholic but am often repulsed by how people use their religion to defend persecuting others.  Being a good person has nothing to do with how many scripture verses you can recite, bu...
