About Me

Hey everyone! My name is Graig. No, not "Craig" or "Greg"... My father was a big baseball fan and that's how his favorite player, Graig Nettles, spelled his name. It's no coincidence, then, that my middle name is Aaron after Hank Aaron.I was born and raised in Detroit. I graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Southwest Detroit, and then earned a Masters of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy. After graduating, I worked at a corporate architecture firm for a few years while re-acquainting myself with the places I am from. I became involved with Expressions, and the Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corporation (WNDC). Both of those moves changed my life, as I found myself leaving the profession in the fall of 2006 to run the WNDC.I have been both praised and criticized for my commitment to this place, and I probably deserve both. I have found the value in sacrificing one's self for the things you believe in, and also realize now that there is a way to accomplish what needs to be done without so much of that sacrifice. In addition to running a nonprofit that is dedicated to revitalizing my neighborhood, I am going to be sharing that dedication with the architecture students I teach at Lawrence Tech University in 2008.Since April of 2007 I have been learning about and in awe of a new kind commitment - the kind that follows the realization that you've found that person you want to travel the rest of your days with.
