I love Music, Illustrating, Writing. Anything that is creative and expressive, that's me. I also love going to the Movies. I am an avid Moviegoer and living near a movie theater makes it so easy for me to go every weekend it's ridiculous. I'm a laid back kinda guy, but I am passionate about things as well.I love my Sports. I was nearly recruited into AAA Baseball, but I walked away from it for Art. No regrets by the way. Football, Baseball, Hockey, Tennis...I love em all. except Golf. no Golf. Blah!I'm orginally from Detroit Michigan (Go Red Wings and Pistons) and moved here to Vegas for a job 9 years ago. I've found it hard to make friends and keep them since they all move back out of state. Vegas is such a transit state.
I'd LOVE to meet a drama free woman who just loves to kick back, have fun Be it Movies, Video games, Pool whatever. A carefree spirit is what I'm looking for with a good heart and not judgemental.Hmmmmmm. Living in Vegas I've met a lot of people I wanted to meet, but I don't get starstruck. Except when I met George Carlin. I lost my cool then. But back on point. I suppose the people I'd like to meet most wouldn't know by name. I'm fascinated by J.D. Salinger (Author of: Catcher in the Rye), John Williams (Movie Composer Extraordinaire) Danny Elfman (Movie Composer), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Dane Cook (Comedian), Seth McFarlane (Creator of Family Guy),Stan Lee (Marvel Comics Living Legend), Eva Longoria (Deperate Housewives) and Sarah Silverman (Comedianne)
Ahhh, Music. One of my great loves. I can live without TV, but a world without Music, I'd rather die.I love all types of music from Classical to Movie scores to Death Metal. I can tolerate Country, but not a fan of it. Hip Hop and R&B is what I mainly listen to as of late, but I still get riled up by the likes of Dream Theater, Ozzy!!!, Rob Zombie, etc etc. As for Classical Composers, my favorite is Bach and Chopin is not far behind. For Movie composers I would say John Williams, Danny Elfman and James Horner are my top three that I follow, but I enjoy many new composers as well.My love for music began early. I studied and sang music for 12 years, but gave it up to persue my Art studies. I had the privledge to perform for some Statesmen and celebrities in MI before I retired which was a blast. My CD collection is...varied. Kinda hard to pidgeon hole me since my likes even include Weird Al. ;).. width="425" height="350" ....
Who doesn't like Movies? You'd never hear anyone say: Hey, wanna go to a movie with me? "Movies?! Screw Movies. They're Fake. They're not even real!" Everyone likes a Movie and I like them a lot. So many to choose for favorites it's almost impossible for me to narrow them down, but I shall try by catagory.Star Wars was my first movie I remember seeing. It blew my mind away. It was revolutionary in it's day and quite frankly, still holds up to this day...And I'm talking about the untouched ORIGINAL VERSION. I also love the entire saga, but the OT will always be special.Jaws. I was terrified to enter any water, even my above ground pool after seeing that movie. Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think every red-blooded Male wanted a fedora and a whip after that movie. Airplane. Mrs. Cleaver speaking Jive...classic. Lord of the Rings. Excellent translation from book to film. Same can be said for Sin City which is quite stylish and innovative for film making. My Sappy choice is It's a Wonderful Life. (Black & White Version) I know it's cheesy, but it reminds me that one man does make a difference in peoples lives, no matter how big or small.
The Boob Tube. I used to be addicted to this, but with the FLOOD of Reality Shows, it's gotten out of control. There are a few shows I MUST see, but not many. The Only exception to the Reality Craze that I do watch is Survivor. I even tried out for it.I also like Smallville. The Simpsons. Family Guy is a MUST!Most of my shows I watch they are on Cable and if I miss it I can see it 20 times before the weeks out. Like South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Mind of Mencia, Dave Chappelle Show (Even in reruns it's still damn funny.) and JLU.There was a time when I was enthralled by Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I miss those shows.
I love to read. It started when my Grandma (We called her Sweet Grandma cause she always gave us gifts) would buy me comics. This is back when they were 25 cents an issue. So I would gets stacks of them. I would read them all. Batman, Spider-Man, Hulk, Superman etc etc. My thirst for adventure was great and this fueled my imagination. It also lead me to Novels. I love Sci-Fi novels the most, but I have read horror/thrillers as well. I believe the more I read, the better it helps with my craft of writing. Being exposed to so many styles, it's important to view and examine the styles and even learn from their examples.Currently I am working on writing my first novel. Finally after putting it off for 3 years I've gotten out of giving excuses for postponing it and so far it's coming along nicely. I also love to write Poetry, but that came about by accident. My music teacher saw lyrics I was writing and suggested that I put it in prose. He also said I had a future in music writing so that's a double plus. Heh.
I never idolized Sport Figures as heroes. My hero was my Grand Father (or Pops as I called him) Pops was always there to help me out. He taught me Baseball. He showed up to support me in every game. He was quiet and soft spoken, but a very strong individual. Reliable and full of integrity. A man of few words, but full of important action. Honest and hard working. One of the values/lessons he taught me was that a Man is as only good as his word is. So when you say something you'd best honor it. I take that extremely to heart. It's a code I live by.My Father left the family when I was in my early teens so I looked to fantasy to escape and I found a comic book character to look up to as well. His name is Captain Mar-Vell. Amazingly his beliefs were so close to Pops that it was so easy to identify with him that he kinda became a surrogate Father for a while. Ironically Both Mar-Vell and Pops died of Cancer. I've never needed a new Hero to look up to. Both Marv and Pops had huge shoes to fill and each day I hope that I lived up to their example.NOTE: I know Mar-Vell is fictional, but the lessons learned changes nothing. Yeah I'm a geek. ;)Lastly, but not least of all. Mom. Without her I would not be half the man I am today. Her guidance and strength kept me afloat when times got tough. She is my rock.
