About Me

The "Tiger Sensation" is a dance line of 10-14 talented young ladies with skills in the discipline of artistic dance concepts. The dance line is an auxiliary unit of the Andrew Jackson High School Band located in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to modern and jazz dance styles- pop, hip hop and club dance styles are incorporated into the squads routines. Qualifications are strict and closely monitored throughout the performing season. Technique classes and strict discipline are required upon acceptance into the squad. Each member is required to maintain a cumalitive gpa of 2.5 in order to obtain and sustain membership. Membership is by audition only, other restrictions apply. The 06-07 "Tiger Sensation" traveled to South Carolina and performed in South Carolina State University homecoming festivities where the squad recieved 3 superior ratings at the high school competition, Edward Waters College homecoming festivities, the city of Jacksonville Veterans Day parade and the city of Tampa MLK Day parade. The "Tiger Sensation" also traveled to Savannah, GA. where they performed in the 2007 St. Patricks day parade (the 2nd largest St. Patricks day parade in the country). The "Tiger Sensation" served as the featured entertainment at the Universal Soul Circus during it's visit to Jacksonville,Florida in 2007.
To start off the 07-08 season the ladies traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida where they were the only high school dance line who represented Jacksonville in Bethune-Cookman University Homecoming festivities. The 07-08 "Tiger Sensation" dance line recently earned a superior rating at the 9th annual Savannah Jamboree of bands. This competion featured over a dozen dance lines. Most recently the squad participated in Edward Waters College homecoming festivities. On november 3 the squad took pride in being the only dance line to represent jacksonville at FAMU's homecoming festivities. We had the honor of participating in the parade and the pre-game show. They also were the featured entertaintment at Florida Memorial University's official name change & merger ceremony. On November 11 the squad particiapted in the city of Jacksonvilles annual Veterans Day parade. The ladies also have taken pride in being the only dance line from Florida to participate in the "5th quarter battle of the bands" in Savannah, GA. on November 18. On December 9 the ladies became the first marching band auxiliary unit in the 170 year history of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church to perform during the main service of the ministry. This performance was broadcast throughout the world via the "streaming faith" network. The Squad is under its 2nd year of leadership of Coordinator Mr. Bertrand Daniels. Mr. Daniels is a veteran choreographer/dance instructor and has worked with many organizations over the years.
