About Me

I grew up in liberal Santa Cruz, CA--so I am liberal. I also got sick of listening to everyone talk so damn liberal all the time--so I hate liberals. So after high school I was a (Self) hater.Being a self-hating Jew, I thought Los Angeles would be a good place for me so I went to college there. After some travelling, some time in DC, and more time in LA, I decided it was time to get back to my liberal roots so I got a job talking shit about Bush and eventually moved to San Francisco. But after just about 1.5 years in SF my girlfriend, Jen, and I decided to get in touch with our Spanish roots and move to Madrid for a few months. My Turn-Ons include serious political discussions, spreading the hegemony of the English language, shaping the young minds of America, cheap beer, and talented white rappers and athletes. My Turn-Offs include working in bad jobs, high rent, lacking the power of subpoena, immaturity, and ambition for ambition's sake.

My Interests

US and International Politics and Education. Soccer. People who live interesting lives.

I'd like to meet:

Dead: Jesus, Jefferson, Lincoln, RaMBaM, Grand Eunuch Yang Qing.Alive: Bush 41, Clinton, Bush 42, Nancy Pelosi, the guys from The State and Sunny in Philadelphia, Paulo Coehlo, Kurt Vonnegut, Vince Vaughn, Stuart Griffin, and Anthony Bertuca (my hero).

Television:

Mostly I just watch Soccer since everything is in Spanish. I also paid for the whole seasons of Lost and The Office on iTunes, and a few Colbert Report episodes (I actually think CR has surpassed the Daily Show).

Books:

Mostly I read non-fiction: Guns, Germs, and Steel is probably the single thing I most consistently bring up in conversations. I just read a book called 1421 which was really interesting. And I always like books about how Republicans are assholes. Oh! The Things I Know! By Al Franken. Fiction: The Sparrow and Children of God by Mary Doria Russel, the Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, The Alchemist, anything by Kurt Vonnegut or Anthony Bertuca, Life of Pi was pretty good, and Milan Kundera writes "novels" like none I've ever read (Immortality is my favorite so far).

Heroes:

Anthony Bertuca, Duh!
