The Answers Woa, What happened to DJ Inner Space? Life happened. I outgrew the limitations of the former shell. The "Inner Space" is still inside of me, believe me. But now I've grown from my experiences for the 2 years I've been playing trance and find that I want more out of the electronic music scene.
And if you check out my web site and click on "Sessions", all my old mixes are still there for your listening pleasure.
Where are you going with all of this? In order to better market myself, I wanted to go back to the drawing board and promote myself with a name that speaks originality. Can't be more original that your god given name, even if its Latin.
Where are your musical tastes now? This phase of my music life is more mature, focused, and with experience to prove it. I want to give you more mixes that fuse multiple genres together and tell stories. I want to get more into house, and techno, and merge those genres with trance, and spice things up with breaks and drum and bass.
What does it take to get you to play? I usually focus on my performances days before the event. I find that my mixes usually have a storyline, whether its on current events around the world, how i've feeling emotionally, or just if I'm in a funky party mode. I'm always up to something. I go through a selection of many tracks that I want to splice and dice for the set, listen to them in my car on the way to work, and then piece them together on the fly when I perform live.
Who are your biggest influences? Well If there is one I would have to say its Brian Transeau (BT for short). He is a true genius musically speaking. I started listening to him back in '99 before he changed his stage name from Libra. He pushes electronic music to the edges and breaks things in the process. His last album "The Binary Universe" is the ultimate in electronic music composition for my ears. Listen to Track "1.618" and you'll get the idea.
André Tanneberger is another great DJ that I listen to all the time. He also inspires me to give the fans something different. To give them an experience.
What are you worried about the most?
Well above many things, life, happiness, health, and prosperity? Its tough taking a hobby such as this and turning into a professional career. They say the two do collide and I've had a taste of it. Next thing you know I'll be running from one airport to the next doing the next show. I like having a home. I like to travel at times. I guess it will be the way the world gets to hear me.
In the beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the grooves of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared, "Let there be House" and House Music was born. I am you see, I am the creator and this is my House. And in my House there is only House Music. But I am not so selfish because once you enter my House, it then becomes our House, and our House Music. And you see no one man owns House. Because House Music is a universal language spoken and understood by all. You see House is a feeling that no one can understand really, unless your deep into the vibe of House. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body. And as I told you before this is our House, and our House Music. And every House should understand there is a keeper and in this House the keeper is Jack. Now some of you might wonder who is Jack and what is it that Jack does? Jack is the one who gives you the power to jack your body. Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake. Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm. Jack is the one who learns you how to whop your body. Jack is the one that can bring nations and nations of all jackers together under one House. You may be Black, you may be White, you may be Jew or Gentile. It don't make a difference in our house, and this is fresh!
