The film stars Carlos Valencia, a top Latin American box office draw and Mixed Martial Art’s legend, Royce Gracie.Hoshi Studios has assembled an energetic team to put the story onto the screen. This includes visionary Art Director, Roberto Frisone (Cronicas, The Dancer Upstairs, Proof of Life), as well as the award-winning Director of Photography, Charlie Perez, award-winning film editor Marco Vera. The film will be helmed by Robert Estrella, an up and coming director whose credits include commercials, music videos, and the short film “El Niño de la Bicicleta de 3 Ruedas” which won first place at the "Festival de Artes al Aire Libre". “Fighter” is the personal story of two men on separate downward spirals whose lives intersect, triggering a bond between them that transforms both. Andres, a sports agent living in L.A., personally and professionally destitute, decides to return to his roots in Ecuador for a respite. There he is viciously attacked by three robbers but escapes serious injury when Vincente, a young Ecuadorian laborer suffering the worst day of his life, decides to take out his frustrations on the bandits. After witnessing Vincente’s overwhelming display of fighting prowess, Andres hatches a plan that will lead both men into the sport of mixed martial arts – Vincente as a combatant and Andres as his manager. Vincente receives training from Royce Gracie, this journey takes them trough various fights through the hard streets of Guayaquil, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.“Fighter” will present mixed martial arts as the electrifying, yet disciplined, tactically challenging and fair-minded sport that millions of fans around the world have embraced. The film will focus on the dedication, fortitude and smarts that the participants must possess to make it to the top.
