About Me

The first place we must start is with sin. What is sin? 1 John 3:4 tells us that “sin is lawlessness”. Sin is where by our own choices we have broken the rules that Christ has set for our life. And because of this choice we have separated ourselves from God just like Adam and Eve did in the garden (Genesis 3). Adam and Eve were told not to eat of one tree in the garden, how ever they fell into temptation and they ate of the fruit (Genesis 3). This sin immediately separated them from God and they were cursed and kicked out of the garden. Isaiah 59:2 tells us that “…your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” Because we have separated ourselves from God we have gotten ourselves into a spiritual dilemma. With sin in our lives we wont be able to be in the presence of God, this means that we will go to Hell. Also, since God is a Holy God he must punish sin as a Judge punishes a criminal. The only difference is one is an eternal torment and the other is a temporary imprisonment here on earth. God is not out to get anyone, in fact to prove this He sent His son to die for us so that His blood would cover and wash away the sins that we have committed so that we could enter heaven (John 3:16). I hope that you understand the gravity of the situation so far, #1- you have sinned (Romans 3:23) #2- Because of your sin you have disobeyed God’s law and will have to be punished for it. #3- Punishment for sin is Hell. #4- God has given you a way to escape the punishment, by accepting His Son.
So if you are interested in getting your life back in the right relationship with God, then there are several things you must do:
1. Faith-(Hebrews 11:1 & John 3:16) – This is where we believe that God exists and that He will reward those who seek Him. Faith is trusting in Jesus to take away your sins, which mends the relationship with the Father. Let’s be clear however that Faith alone saves nobody we can see this in James 2.
2. Repentance-(Luke 13:3 & Acts 3:19) – Repentance is more than just being “sorry” it is where the individual makes a change in the way they think, and live. It is where the individual stops living the way they want and starts living the way Jesus wants.
3. Confession-(Matthew 10:32-33 & Romans 10:9-10) – Confession is where we make a commitment, it is where we tell God that we’re going to make Him the Lord of our lives, and live by His standards and not our own. If we are not willing to live faithfully for Christ then we shouldn’t even think about becoming a Christian then.
4. Water Baptism-(Mark 16:15-16 & Acts 2:38) – Water baptism is a very controversial issue in Christianity today. However if we just take the scriptures for what they say, then we will realize that Jesus thought Baptism was very important. We are told that Baptism is where God has chosen to wash away all of our past sins and give us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in our faithful walk with Christ.
5. Live Faithfully (Revelations 2:10) – We must remain faithful to Christ for the rest of our lives and we must realize that our life is not going to always be on the mountain tops, we will be in the valleys as well, however through our walk down the road of life we must remember that Christ is with us and that He will always be with us as long as we stay faithful to Him.
