About Me

Hello all,Welcome to my page.I am writing this at 3am. I have been thinking about adding an 'about me' for a while. I hope that this helps you, friends and visitors, understand what i am trying to do.
Some have described my sound as anti-folk/lo-fi and likes. Although this maybe perfectly relevant to tag me on to the latest spin-off of a musical genre, i would really prefer it not to be used.
Here is the way i see it:
People often try to achieve a sound to help define their music. My intentions were not for the recordings you hear above to be interpreted as what i have described above. Here's the thing... I am not choosing to make recordings like this, it is simply down to my means - no money etc.
The truth being that if someone were to offer me a chance to record my music in the way i would like, it would sound nothing like this. Sadly though, i have to live the right side of reality.
If you have read this far then you probably understand what i am talking about.
It's very frustrating being the wrong side of a line you wish to cross, and i guess that is what drives my music. I would like to document in musical form the transition of mind and body. Journeys that people have to take to get from A to B. I have a strong interest in Blues and Jazz music and how they both took form over the last hundred and more years. For me both are the purest musically and most emotionally charged disciplines. To play the either would take my whole life, so i could never call myself a Jazz or Blues artist. But if it was a religion, you could call me a believer.
If i were to describe my music it would go something like this:
I am not anti-folk as i am pro-folk. I grew up listening to folk. I am not lo-fi, as that would imply that i am intentionally shaping my sound output to fit some kind of trend.
I would agree with someone if they observed that i have listened to a lot of music that uses simple recording techniques (i.e. music that was recorded without the benefit of digital manipulation), and used that idea as the purest way of capturing music.
If they were to say that they can here the sounds of old blues and jazz artists i would be over the moon. Also my interest in classic songwriting and arranging.
I would also agree with someone who noticed that i am more interested in chords, song structure and melody and harmony than its genre. You WILL hear a lot of other instruments and influences with the new songs i am recording.
Therefore please try to think of my music as work in progress and expect to hear it developing and hopefully never stopping until the day i die.
Thank you for your interest in my music.
