I have been writing songs for around three and a half years now. Before, my words didn't join hands with music but stayed within the pages of my trusted notebooks. My songs are honest interpretations of life as I see it. Music is my therapy in so many senses and I hope that my music will be a therapy for others too. I loathe pretentiousness and make a point of being true to myself, through my music, in every way I can.
I have developed a love for turning stories into songs. I recently spent some time in Illinois researching my family history, turning family stories into songs. From this, I developed a set of both covers and original songs that formed my final degree show "Once There Was..." which will be performed again soon in Bristol, where I am now based.
I grew up on a diet of folk, mainly female songwriters of that genre, pop and musicals. I think these influences are apparent in my music. I appreciate all kinds of music, and hunger for new music; music that moves me, that inspires me, that puts a spring in my step!
I live to stand my place in this competitive world. To fight for what needs to be fought. To play music. To continue playing music. To stand defiantly in the face of those who believe you can't do it.
Live. Love. Laugh.
