Depeche Mode has been the most influencial and inovative band in music for over 25 years! A band that has hardly won an award, minimal air play, and no mainstream advertising or "Commercial " marketing; They continue to sell out arenas, stadiums, and other large venues. Their music has had hard rock sounds and various dance beats, but always remained true to their early electronic sound.
I have heard many non fans say that Depeche Mode's music "sucks", that they're gay, and are an "80's" band! I cannnot tell you how much this pisses me off! Anyone who has heard a depeche Mode song, or has been to one of their concerts, knows that that is simply not true. Dave Gahan is a genuine rocker! They all put on a show that puts U2, and other mainstream alternative rock bands to shame!!
I am so glad that I have decided to see them more than 2 times this tour. Sure, It cost me an arm, a leg and an ovary, but damn was it worth it!! I summed it up as being the chance of a lifetime. What better time to see all that they have to offer?! Because as everyone knows, they might very well not be around in another 25 years!! Sad but true. My 13,7, and 5 year old children all complain about how fortunate I have been to get to grow up with their music and the chance to see them perform live, and that they may not have that oportunity as they get older. My eldest went to see them this past November. I wanted to make sure that the first band he saw was what I think is the best band in the world! WHEN they come back next tour, (and they will come back!) I am taking my 7 year old daughter! An so on. Until the end. Which I can't even think about without tearing up. The uphoria I feel when I am there watching them sing is undescribable!! It is just one more special thing that Depeche Mode fans have in common. Maybe that's why there is such a untity, and family-like feeling you have we meet eachother. Something so wonderful and honest that makes strangers feel so close to one another. All brought together by one man's words about life, heartache, and LOVE!Myspace .. Now Icons
