About Me
The Biography of Lovely
"Go Getter"
At first glance she may seem to be quite shy and soft spoken. Many people ask when first meeting her, "Are You a Singer?" Though she is a lover of R&B, she does not sing she stated "No, I am a female emcee." Once that is stated people's eyes tend to widen, and straight lips go up into a smile, while she has only rhymed a year she gets much praise.
At the age of 22 Lovely, born Natasha White is seeking and striving to bring a different style to hip-hop and the music business. "I want to show what I can do with my lyrics, and also let people know that females are capable of flowing as well as the men." With her gritty lyrics, penned by herself, consistent punch lines, and laid back persona she gets much support from people out of town, and in her neighborhood and hometown Pittsburgh, PA. "It's funny because when I talk to people, they don't think I'm from Pittsburgh, they think I am from somewhere else."
Influenced by Tupac Shakur and Nasir Jones, and many R&B artist, as a female emcee she feels that she has to overcome the stereotype that has already been given to the major female emcees / rappers out there. She isn't one to care about what others think, but she is one that likes to be taken seriously. She has her own style, which is very much derived from poetry which she started writing at the age of 12. After writing poetry for almost 6 years, she decided one day at college to write a rhyme. "Its never been something I thought about doing, it fell in my lap really." "Then I'd heat songs on the radio by various artists and I knew my lyrics were in fact better, or on the level of a major artist." Everything happens for a reason, she trusts her faith, and Lovely began writing one thru two rhymes a week in 2006, and still has that material which she has yet to use. She continues to write, except more often, penning lyrics up to two or three times a week. "I usually just put them in my Sidekick 3 because I am on the go, when I get a moment I do take the time to actually write my lyrics down."
She creates music that first she wants to listen to as well as the audience; she also has an ear for singles and hot songs. You all are probably what makes her different, or what makes her tick? In anything she does she is humbled, whether it is collaborating with artists, working with new producers independent and major, and getting mentored by others in the business. "You have to be humble, to do music because it ever-changing, so I always pay attention with my eyes, but more with my ears so I know what people want to hear and try my best to deliver it in my own way of course."
Everything she has done thus far with her music thus far is by herself. "If I don't do it no one else will." Her lyrics speak from the heart, mentioning everyday things from the block and her neighborhood, to politics, revolution, and some fornication. Her spirit lives in her mind frame, she is always kind but when its time to hit the booth, she truly comes out of her shell.
She's gained interest from the likes of producers like [Mikey Bo], [Chad B.] of (G-Unit / Interscope), [Kenny Smoove] (Changing Faces), [Phunk Dawg] producer of Hurricane Chris debut Single "A Bay- Bay", and [Po Po] producer of Huey's debut single "Pop, Lock, & Drop It". Also working with independent producers such as her main producer [Dutchbeetz], [Nesia Beatz], and [Grimey Beatz Production] based in France. She's been granted love from various DJ's by being featured, and soon hosting mixtapes in the U.S., Germany, and France. She has built relationships with A-Million (DipseTaliban / A.S.M.G.), DJ Ohpax (France), Red Devil (Germany), and DJ Pimp (France) among others.
She is backed with support from DipseTaliban / A.S.M.G., Crimehouse / BMF, and is a member of Da Counsel, and N.M.G. "Working and having everyone's support means a lot." She's been referred to by someone she spit for acapella as a female Tupac, and was told by someone that she reminded him of MC Lyte. "They are both great artist so I took those as excellent compliments. She is being sought by an independent music group located in Atlanta but has signed nothing yet.
She states, "Either way signed or not I will continue my higher education and to do my craft as an artist. Whoever I sign with it will be what's best for me and my projects as an artist." "For anyone that doesn't believe in me, I say never doubt me, while one College Writing II professor failed me, another one passed me and suggested I minor in professional writing."
I am going to surpass my expectations in anything I pursue; I am what you call a go getter."
