This popular site-specific series based on an original concept by Kim Corbin and Sandra Dunn returns with brand-new works in the front windows of Jump-Start Theater. This season, four different Jump-Start artists create one-night only performance/multi-media installations that are meant to be viewed from outside the theater.
Beauty has always possessed us to look up and get lost in the night skies in wonder and mystery. In an effort to fulfill our curiosity, we came up with the space ship and the astronaut. We have been exploring space for some time now. Our discoveries have brought us to a new stage of astronaut, the Stardiver. The mission of a Stardiver is to take a ship in to new space, learn and participate in new cultures, and chart new frontiers. This performance is a review of a mission of one of the most known and infamous of Stardivers, Stardiver Nara. In this mission, Stardiver Nara blasts off for a routine mission into space. Everything is going to plan until a window into another realm suddenly opens up and sucks the Stardiver in. In this other space, our Stardiver encounters unknown creatures and undocumented realities.

General info: Jump-Start Performance Co. was founded in 1985 and has a history of continuous artistic and financial growth. The company has increasingly gained national recognition while remaining firmly rooted in San Antonio. Since its formation, Jump-Start has created, presented or produced over 500 original performance works and reached an audience of over 300,000 people. Jump-Start's audience is extremely diverse, and largely composed of ethnic minorities and individuals of modest economic means, and those underserved by mainstream arts organizations. Jump-Start is one of only a handful of theatres nationwide that focuses exclusively on the creation and presentation of new works. This makes it a unique resource for San Antonio, the state of Texas and the nation.
Jump-Start is located in the Blue Star Arts Complex, just south of downtown San Antonio, Texas, in a facility that includes a 150-seat performance space, gallery/lobby, and company offices. As part of the company's commitment to act as a community resource, Jump-Start makes it space available to numerous other arts and community groups. Jump-Start provides a home for artists of all types: theatrical, musical, visual, literary, etc. The company's focus is the creation of original solo and ensemble work. Because Jump-Start provides a performance home for ethnically diverse artists and audiences, it plays a unique role as a forum for cross-cultural dialog and exchange.
