For my people Saturday night runs over into Sunday

About Me

I'm a natural redhead, Anarcha-feminist, recent vegan with the manners of a Southern lady (Born in Alabama y'all.) and a predilection for piercings and tattoos. I am currently finishing earning my masters and hope someday to publish my thesis as a book. I will be going on to PhD program in the fall. In the meantime I just want to work on a memoirish zine of southern vegan cuisine and improve my aim and range with my trusty wrist rocket. When I grow up I want to teach radical history and write books about it.Also I am in the Lucy Parsons Collective, and the Anarcho Beach Squad. I'm trying to do more political art, and wish that I didn't feel like a lot of the radical groups in Boston are masturbatory or ineffective.

My Interests

reading, drinking you under the table, dancing, anarcha-feminism, making art, making out, traveling, the Anarcho-Beach Squad, shooting guns one handed, wearing costumes, watching scary movies, eating the rich, cooking vegan food, swimming, hiking, pretending I don't like rollercoasters, jocking out at the gym, Twin Peaks, fucking shit up, sewing, graffitti, being a history nerd, telling ghost stories, trying not to get more tattoos, drinking buttermakers in movie theatres and exploring abandoned shit.

I'd like to meet:

Daisuke Matsuzaka, other radical nerds, fellow beleagered grad students, people who make political art, anarchists who want to be less talk and more rock on direct actions and gender, race and class issues, people with hollow legs and great anecdotes, the dog I will someday own, people with Southern accents, transplanted Southerners who find themselves up North, and anyone who knows the secret to time travel.

Music:

Current obsession with Lucero, the Coup, Rumbleseat, Anything I can dance to, Eighties New Wave, Spanish covers of pop songs, Dead Prez, Medusa, Billy Bragg, World Inferno Friendship Society, Bread and Roses, Dolly Parton, Mr. Lif, Early Madonna, The Pogues, The Moldy Peaches, Peaches, Blondie, Guns n Roses, Magnetic Fields, Op Ivy, The Pixies, and The Cure.

Movies:

Anything scary.

Television:

Currently obsessed with Heroes. Twin Peaks, but only season one. Ditto for the OC. Six Feet Under and Carnivale.

And Prisoner of Azkhaban is the best Harry Potter book, though five is good cause A) He's sooooo angsty, B) He fucks shit up and it's all anti-authoritarian and anti-government and C) The abbreviation for it at my bookstore was HPV. Hee.

Heroes:

The Trung sisters, Lizzie Swank Holmes and her BFF Lucy Parsons (Anarcha-feminist labor organizers), Dock Ellis (pitched a no-hitter on acid!), Emma Goldman, Nestor Makhno, Artemisia Gentileschi, Dorothy Parker, Dolly Parton, The free women of Spain, Howard Zinn, Stonewall Jackson, Coco Crisp, anyone fighting against oppression.

Favorite new recipes and cooking with booze!

Last week I made sweet potato fries (my new food obsession) and black bean hummous (use all the ingredients of hummous but with black beans instead of chick peas) and it was delicious. Tonight I'm go...

My Southerncore Reading and Whiskey Drinking Club

I'm currently reading "Cold Mountain" and "The Reivers", one of Faulkner's last books and his only really funny one, as part of a two person whiskey-drinking southern book club. We also read "As I Lay...
