Detroit WAX is a subsidiary of CityBoy Records. CityBoy Records was created
in 1990 in Detroit by Eddie Fowlkes and was distributed through Submerge in
the 90's and now through Diamonds and Pearls in Berlin. Detroit WAX
distribution in the USA is through Cross Talk in Chicago. The Detroit Wax
label, is run by Eddie Fowlkes and Niko Marks. Once again, innovation
from some of Detroit's best! Detroit Wax will focus on putting out great
mind and sound music from Detroit and other music from across the world.
Detroit WAX Clothing was originally created in 2004 by two highly motivated,
like-minded and innovative people, Susan Everhart and Eddie Fowlkes. The
clothing idea exploded during an episodic weekly house night party hosted by
the founders. The initial shirts were introduced to Detroit at these
gatherings.
Detroit WAX clothing was first worn by Detroit techno originator and Godfather of Techno-Soul, Eddie "Flashin" Fowlkes . The apparel was shared with fans, dj's, producers, and friends. Along with graphic designer, tech head, dj Mikael Thornton , the Detroit WAX brand was driven fast-forward into the future. The clothing was so unique and fell into high demand in Europe when Eddie went on tour, that the folks back home in Detroit craved the Detroit WAX gear as well.
