Welcome to The Joyness myspace page! My band consists of three members (for now), which are: myself (Joylani), Teppong, and Steaven. Our sound is something new and different, but if I Had to define it I'd say it goes somewhat along the lines of folk rock/pop/acoustic. With that said, we need a Drummer who is able to adapt to slow and also varying tempos within songs, etc.
My group basically started out with just me (I songwrite and sing with my guitar), and then my friend Teppy--at first--came along to jam in my house with his drums (which made a racket, let me tell you especially in the first 5 minutes after setting up when he was just "testing" the set and we all had to wear, or Should have worn, ear plugs, lol). Anyways, that was about a year ago now, but now he mostly plays electric guitar for me as backup and spiffy solos on occasion.
I've been around music my whole life. I come from a very musical family, but I guess I'm the youngest version of it all. A guitar has always been in my house since I was born too because both my parents play. I finally decided to pick it up when I was around 12 years old. I am still learning. I think everyone always has something more to learn than what they already have instilled in them. A good quote pertaining to this is: "I only know that I know nothing." This is not to be on a down note at all, instead it is to make a point that we all can always make some room to grow and be better.
Songwriting is one of my strongest passions in life. I got even more into it than ever as I went through some situations in my life through which I really needed to vent. Then I truly discovered this wonderful way to get out my emotions. One of my biggest goals in life is to be able to help another person who is going through a hard time just like I have. If I am able to get into just One person's heart, and they can identify with my music and somehow apply it to their own life to view something with a different light, then my work has done its main purpose. I pour my heart and soul into the songs I write, and, to be honest, sometimes I'm not exactly sure where my inspiration comes from but i do know that God does everything for a reason. Anyhow, we are somewhat in the recording process, and are also looking for a Drummer (see the blog) so if you know anyone send us a message!!! :)) We hope to start performing at open mic nights soon as well just as soon as we get everything ready. just look for the bulletins and event posts. thanks and enjoy listening :)
