Spred the Dub aims to provide audiences with the most authentic live reggae possible while shedding new light on dub, a form of "psychedelic reggae" which emerged in the late '60s. Locking it down on trap set is Johnny Fresh who applies funk rhythms and a jazz mentality to roots reggae grooves. Flint Blade blurs the line between rhythm and lead, using the versatile Chapman Stick to drop thick basslines underneath lush, trippy sound effects. Also well-versed in dub effects is Boris Fingermon--he applies them intuitively to his sweet melodies and rootsy dead-picking riffs. Mickey Vintage puts his heart and soul into each performance as the voice and backbeat of Spred the Dub. Together these players gel into one of the freshest sounds in reggae today.
Spred the Dub's set list includes a host of well-crafted original songs which range from upbeat dancehall rhythms to thick, soul-moving roots jams. These originals sit well among unique renditions of modern classics and rejuvenated reggae standards.
