My favorite part of a gene is the TATA box, because it's full of T and A

About Me

I yam who I yam.

My Interests

Reading, drawing, old-school SNES video games, Hordes, Dungeons and Dragons, other general geekiness, Boston Air Hockey, and most anything involving animals and me being outside.

I'd like to meet:

Active, intelligent people. They can be a little weird, also. Cool weird, though; not uncomfortable weird.

Music:

I'll enjoy pretty much anything that isn't country, though I'm not the largest fan of either rap rhythm and blues. Some country songs are good, like many by Johnny Cash, but most seem whiny to me, and I can't abide whiners.

Movies:

Anything with a good plot and/or cool looking creature in it. Live-action or animated (or claymation, though I guess that's still animation, just of a different sort). Musicals are a-okay. I have little tolerance for modern dramas or slasher flicks. If I wanted to see people kill each other I'd watch the news.

Television:

Pretty much all I watch right now is Adult Swim, though certainly not religiously. Current favorites in that line-up include Family Guy and Full-Metal Alchemist. I am a large fan of series no longer in production, including Firefly, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Books:

Most anything fictional, though I prefer that it possess some sort of fanciful element, be it magical or technological in nature. Some favorite novels include The Time Machine, the Harry Potter series, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

My house... HATES YOU

Apparently I like to use scripts in my ravings

Well, not ACTUALLY the most horrible thing I've ever heard, but I did die a little inside. Waiting for the bus a while back I overheard a conversation between a young man and woman, and I decided it w...

If you already think I'm weird this will come as no real surprise

For those who haven't heard this yet: A while ago a friend of mine worked for a woman named Olivia On. When informed of her name it instantly conjured for me an image of a futuristic military siege th...

Make the voices stop!!! Wait... is that Journey?

So I've been getting random 80's theme songs stuck in my head during work. Some of you know of my ordeals a few weeks past where "Glory of Love" from The Karate Kid II wouldn't leave me alone for abou...

This might be what going mad feels like

A while back when Britney Spears was only pretending to be a trollope she produced a video for a song entitled "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman." I care nothing for Britney or the song, but the video ...

Why I instinctively hated "Baby Geniuses"

My Calculus professor is, apparently, a genius. He got his first (note, I say FIRST) Master's degree at age 16. There is nothing wrong with this. It is, in fact, commendable. But I make the argument, ...

Random Thoughts 1

On the odd behavior of my Calculus professor, who behaves as if hisstudents already know the subject. As someone once has remarked to me, you cannot "remind someone how to do Calculus." I am...
